On the evening of January 5, in Sa Dec City, Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee held the closing ceremony of the 1st Sa Dec Ornamental Flower Festival.
According to the Organizing Committee, it is estimated that the 7-day Sa Dec Ornamental Flower Festival (December 30, 2023 - January 5, 2024) welcomed more than 245,000 visitors, including nearly 2,000 international visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 98 billion.
The first Sa Dec Ornamental Flower Festival attracted a large number of tourists to Sa Dec flower village and neighboring tourist attractions.
Through the festival, Sa Dec flower farmers sold about 300,000 baskets of various types on the spot, such as: raspberry chrysanthemums, gerbera daisies, other types of chrysanthemums, interior decoration plants, bonsai of all kinds... Prices are stable, not increasing compared to before the festival, creating favorable conditions for customers to shop.
Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 1st Sa Dec Ornamental Flower Festival, commented that this success is an important premise, suggesting major directions on enhancing the value of the flower and ornamental plant industry, while opening up opportunities to connect, enhance and promote tourism development of the province in the coming time.

"I hope that after this Festival, Sa Dec will have more and more new flower varieties, many precious ornamental plants will be created and develop more new types of tourism to attract and retain tourists. In particular, every Sa Dec resident will raise awareness in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values so that every tourist coming here will have the same feeling about the love of the land and people here," said Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan.
Coming to Sa Dec flower village, many tourists will "immediately fall in love" with the gardens of raspberry chrysanthemums.
The Organizing Committee said that 39 businesses have registered to sponsor the Sa Dec Ornamental Flower Festival this time with a total budget of more than 18 billion VND, with socialized funding reaching nearly 2/3 of the total budget for organizing the event.
