With many convenient features, smart watches are gradually becoming useful devices in daily life. Therefore, issues related to the use of this type of device are also of concern.
One drawback of smartwatches is their relatively short battery life compared to traditional watches. Most users have to charge their smartwatches every few days, or even every day.
For Apple Watch users, recently there has been a situation where the watch only charges to 80%, unable to fully charge like before. What is the real reason for this?
Apple Watch is powered by a lithium-ion battery. This type of battery lasts longer when charged below 100% and should not be left fully charged for long periods of time. Charging to around 80% will help the battery last longer. However, users do not always check the device and unplug it at the right time.
To address the issue, Apple has built a convenient feature into the Apple Watch that limits charging without requiring manual intervention. The feature, called Optimized Battery Charging , is automatically enabled by default during the initial setup process.

This feature will monitor the user's daily charging time. Built-in machine learning tracks whether the watch is charged overnight, how often it is charged, and more.
Using the information it collects, Apple Watch decides whether to limit the battery to 75-80%. If it predicts a long charging session (like an overnight charge), the device will prevent it from charging past 80%, only reaching full charge right before the user would normally unplug it.
However, if you want to charge your Apple Watch right away for special events, like a city walk or a day hike with friends, you can turn off Apple's optimized battery charging feature.
To do this, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and turn off Optimized Battery Charging .
