An Giang tourism with new development orientations

To turn the "smokeless industry" into a driving force for economic development, An Giang province is making efforts to implement many solutions to develop typical types of tourism that are suitable to the local potential and strengths.

In recent years, An Giang tourism has made positive progress in the fields of tourism accommodation, travel, and sightseeing. Infrastructure has been invested in, and the capacity to serve tourists has been increasingly developed, gradually meeting the industry's standards and the needs of tourists. Tourism promotion and advertising activities have been focused on with many diverse forms, contributing to promoting the image of local tourism. Tourism human resources have been improved in quantity and quality, contributing to the development of the trade and service sectors.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province has 101 tourist accommodation establishments (62 ranked establishments, including: 1 4-star hotel, 5 3-star hotels, 8 2-star hotels, 15 1-star hotels and 33 establishments meeting the minimum requirements for technical facilities and services for tourists); 26 travel companies (9 domestic travel companies, 16 international travel companies (5 branches, 11 companies) and 1 representative office); 6 recognized tourist areas and spots (1 national tourist area, 1 provincial tourist area and 4 tourist spots); 1 food service business that meets the standards for serving tourists. Ms. Lam Thuy Ha (tourist from Dong Nai province) shared: "As a regular visitor of An Giang Tourism, I see that in recent years, tourist areas, spots, and sightseeing places have proactively invested in improving facilities, renovating landscapes, and cleaning the environment quite well, creating a friendly feeling for tourists."

Unique architecture of Khmer temples

An Giang attracts tourists by its uniqueness and attractiveness with tourist destinations to explore nature, heritage, cultural space and types, such as: cultural tourism, ecological tourism, community tourism... Tourist attractions, such as: Tra Su cajuput forest, Long Xuyen floating market, Cham village, Ong Ho islet, Gieng islet and tourist attractions in That Son range are famous destinations of the province, attracting tourists from near and far. Mr. Le Thanh Hoai Anh (tourist from Binh Thuan province) commented: "An Giang has many unique and typical spiritual and ecological tourist destinations. I really like to come to An Giang, especially to learn about the life of the Khmer ethnic minority in Tri Ton, Tinh Bien and enjoy many delicious dishes here...".

In the coming time, An Giang province will continue to implement programs and plans to create breakthroughs for development, especially communication activities, promoting An Giang tourism to tourists. In particular, constantly improve the quality and renew existing tourism products and exploit and develop typical, potential tourism products that are suitable to the strengths of the locality. At the same time, promote digital transformation in the tourism sector; propagate, communicate and promote An Giang tourism with diversity in both content and form; pay attention to training human resources for the industry; continue to focus on developing new tourism products on the basis of exploiting resources, linking interdisciplinary products, forming products to serve shopping needs, creating added value for the tourism industry; improve the quality of tourism types associated with traditional cultural festivals, beliefs, religions and ethnic groups. In addition, focus on investing in traffic routes connecting tourism areas and points in the province and localities in the Mekong Delta region, Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and other provinces and cities, to promote sustainable tourism development in An Giang.

In the first 6 months of 2025, An Giang province is estimated to welcome about 7.1 million visitors (equivalent to the same period in 2024, reaching 71% of the 2025 plan). Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 17,000 (up 21% over the same period in 2024). Revenue from tourism activities is estimated to reach VND 8,200 billion (up 2.5% over the same period in 2024, reaching 76% of the 2025 plan).
