(CLO) On December 19, in Hanoi, The World and Vietnam Newspaper coordinated with the Standing Office of the Steering Committee on Human Rights to organize a scientific workshop "Foreign information on human rights in the new situation on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of World Human Rights Day (December 10, 1948 - December 10, 2024), discussing solutions and ways to promote external communication on human rights in the current context.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet, Deputy Head of the Government Human Rights Steering Committee, emphasized that foreign information work on human rights has been strongly implemented in recent times, with the direction and participation of the entire political system.

However, according to the Deputy Minister, besides positive results, this work is currently facing many challenges, requiring new approaches to improve communication effectiveness.

One of the important issues that Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet pointed out is that the current external information work on human rights mainly focuses on combating and refuting false information, not really paying attention to proactively informing and building trust from the international community.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that in order for foreign communication work to be highly effective, it is necessary to have creative, flexible forms of propaganda that are suitable to the context of globalization and the development of social networking platforms.

Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet also emphasized that foreign information work on human rights should be considered an important political task, requiring synchronization in the awareness and actions of functional agencies, especially in innovation in thinking and implementation methods.

It is necessary to ensure unity at all levels, from the central to local levels, in disseminating and providing information on human rights, in order to achieve optimal effectiveness in foreign affairs activities.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong - representative of the Standing Office of the Government Human Rights Steering Committee, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Human Rights Magazine affirmed that in the context of hostile and extremist forces thoroughly opposing Vietnam in the fields of democracy and human rights, foreign information plays a very important role, helping the international community correctly and clearly understand the viewpoints, guidelines, policies and achievements of our Party and State on human rights, while at the same time fighting and refuting false and distorted information, gaining support for the cause of building, protecting and developing the country.

Ms. Huong also emphasized that external information work on human rights is facing new requirements and tasks, requiring innovation in both content and methods, especially in the context of the country entering an era of development.
