Remembering the merits of previous generations

During the historic autumn days, when the whole nation turned towards the country's important anniversaries, in Tan Hung ward, Hai Phong City People's Committee held the groundbreaking ceremony for 3 projects, including the project to build the Martyrs Temple and Hai Duong Cultural Park.

The project was decided on investment policy by the People's Council of the former Hai Duong province before the merger.

This is a project to commemorate the previous generations of ancestors of Hai Duong who were loyal, resilient, and sacrificed for national independence.

The temple is planned in a historical park, covering an area of about 2.5 hectares, with the main gate connecting to Vo Van Kiet Avenue. The proposed plan is to turn the entire temple area into a connected cultural space in the park.

The project to build the Martyrs Temple and Hai Duong Cultural Park as planned is not only a place of commemoration but also a place for cultural activities, organizing historical and cultural events, attracting friends and tourists to come and study and visit.

During the resistance wars to defend the country, many cadres and soldiers from the former Hai Duong province sacrificed their lives. Most of the remains of the martyrs will forever remain in localities and battlefields throughout the country, making it difficult to fully gather them in martyr cemeteries.

In recent years, the Party, the State, the government and the people of the whole country have paid great attention to investing in the construction of cemeteries and memorials. The former Hai Duong province, now Hai Phong city, has also paid special attention to this task.

After the merger of Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city, the project continued to be implemented in the new Hai Phong city and was one of 9 projects in the whole city to start construction on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Not only a martyrs' temple, the project to build a martyrs' temple and Hai Duong cultural park according to the plan is also a place for cultural activities, organizing historical - cultural events and is an address attracting friends and tourists to research, visit and commemorate.

The project has a total investment of about 200 billion VND, according to the plan, including many construction items. In which, the martyrs' temple has an area of about 313 ^m2 , the stele house has an area of about 87 ^m2 .

The square, up to 1,100 ^m2 wide, will be a place for visitors to visit, enjoy and participate in cultural and artistic activities, blending in with the city's contemporary life.

The main gate of the martyrs' temple has a semicircular arch, stylized as a halo at the main entrance of the building, welcoming the central axis of the entire park and temple complex.

On both sides of the gate will be a fence combined with green trees trimmed to create stylized layers of clouds, creating steps leading to the main axis. Two stylized round lamp posts reminiscent of the three-entrance gate posts in traditional architecture are arranged under the arch to create a sacred feeling.

The main gate of the temple has a semicircular arch, stylized as a halo at the main entrance of the building, bearing the mark of the Eastern Citadel's light.

The memorial and relief have an area of about 256 ^m2 . The monument consists of 2 layers of space, the outer layer is a flower garden lawn shaped into landscape strips towards the center. The inner layer is a memorial appearing on a green grassy hill with 4 entrances corresponding to 4 directions, the path goes into the heart of the hill to the memorial yard with an incense burner in the center, stylized from the bayonets of the guns of brave soldiers leaning against each other.

The project also has auxiliary items such as service houses, rest huts, public toilets, technical houses, trees, walking paths, lotus ponds, and parking lots with a total area of about 24,000 ^m2 .

With its sacred, noble purpose and majestic scale, the Project to build the Martyrs Temple and Hai Duong Cultural Park is expected to be a modern cultural and spiritual destination in the western area of Hai Phong City today and bring economic benefits and social security to the area.

In these historic August autumn days, the project to build the Martyrs Temple and Hai Duong Cultural Park was started, imbuing the pride of the people of old Hai Duong, now the new Hai Phong City, in the glorious history, the bravery of the previous generation and the expectation and belief in the future of following in the footsteps of the brave and resilient homeland.
