"Please row gently on the ferry to Thach Han"
My friend is still there at the bottom of the river.
Twenty years old become waves
Peaceful shore forever.
( The ferry down Thach Han , Le Ba Duong)
Quang Tri Citadel – a small land soaked in blood and bones – is still a symbol of resilience and indomitability in the resistance war against the US to save the country of our people. Here, tens of thousands of soldiers in their twenties fell, leaving behind unfinished dreams, transforming into every inch of land, every river. In every blade of grass, in the sound of wind chimes on the banks of Thach Han today, the heartbeat of those young men still echoes.
From that tragic memory, “Red Rain” – a historical film based on the script of writer Chu Lai, directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen was born. Inspired by the 81 days and nights of fire in the summer of 1972, the film not only recreates a heroic historical period but also is a memorial incense, a long epic in images sent to those who have remained forever in the heart of motherland Quang Tri.
“Red Rain” is elaborately staged, with a large studio scale, the setting realistically recreates the scene of bombs and bullets falling like rain. Viewers will clearly feel the fierceness to the end – a place that can endure the destructive power equivalent to 7 atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki every day. However, against the backdrop of that fire and smoke, the fighting spirit and belief in victory still shine brightly, resounding in the haunting line: “ Don’t be discouraged, don’t give up, we will win!”.
The film features a cast of veteran actors such as People's Artist Tran Luc, Than Thuy Ha, Dinh Thuy Ha, Hua Vi Van... and a generation of young actors: Nhat Hoang, Phuong Nam, Lam Thanh Nha, Dinh Khang, Hoang Long, Nguyen Hung, Tran Gia Huy, Ha Anh... They brought realistic and touching roles, clearly depicting the inner thoughts of young soldiers, making the audience feel like they were reliving the painful but heroic history of the nation.
Released in theaters from August 22, 2025, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, "Red Rain" is not only a movie, but also a reminder for today's young generation to understand more deeply the value of peace , to be grateful for the contributions of previous generations, to appreciate more every inch of land soaked in the blood and bones of previous generations, so that every heart is more proud when looking up at the fluttering national flag.
