This not only contributes to improving the effectiveness of promotion and building brands for the province's products but also creates opportunities to connect supply and demand, expand the consumption market, and bring the province's products to large markets.

In order for the province's products to be competitive in the market, relevant departments, branches, enterprises and production and business organizations in the province have actively built and developed product brands.

Brand Development

One of the outstanding activities in product branding in recent times is the program "Voting for typical rural industrial products". From 2014 to present, the Department of Industry and Trade has advised the Provincial People's Committee to organize 5 voting periods, attracting many production establishments and enterprises in the province to register their products to participate. Up to now, the whole province has 45 products recognized as typical rural industrial products at the provincial level, of which 14 are typical rural industrial products at the regional level and of these 14 products, 3 are recognized as typical rural industrial products at the national level.

Mr. Tran Van Hung, Deputy Director of Thai Binh Tea Joint Stock Company (Thai Binh commune) said: The company always pays attention to and focuses on building a brand for the product, especially participating in polls organized by all levels and sectors to bring an objective view to consumers. In August 2021, the company's Oolong tea product was voted as a typical national rural industrial product. Since then, in order to maintain the brand, reputation and product quality, the company has invested about 500 million VND to upgrade the production line, improve packaging and labels. At the same time, the company continues to expand the linkage chain, consuming tea produced according to VietGAP standards from 43 hectares to 60 hectares.

Along with that, the exploitation of activities on the electronic environment to promote the brand of agricultural products, specialties, OCOP products, etc. of the province is also being implemented by the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion (XTĐT, TM&DL). Currently, the whole province has 18 enterprises and cooperatives supported to bring products to domestic and international e-commerce platforms.

Typically, OCEANLINE LLC (Dong Dang commune) has been supported to bring its products to international e-commerce platforms. Mr. Hoang Manh Hung, Deputy Director of the Company, said: In May 2024, the company's Xu Lang Oil and High-class Nourishing Vegetable Oil products were certified as typical rural industrial products in the Northern region. In order to promote the products more widely and build a stronger brand, the company has focused on approaching and bringing products to the Shopee e-commerce platform. In particular, in 2024, the Provincial Center for Investment Promotion, Trade and Tourism supported the company to set up and maintain an account, and bring products to the Alibaba e-commerce platform. Thanks to that, the company's products are now known and sought after by many customers. On average, each month, through sales channels, the company sells more than 500 products to the market.

In addition, every year, relevant levels and sectors also support and create conditions for businesses and production establishments to display and promote the province's typical and unique products at fairs, exhibitions, and trade connection conferences, thereby not only creating opportunities for production and business establishments to learn about consumer tastes but also helping to promote product brands to domestic business partners as well as foreign representative agencies and trade promotion organizations in Vietnam.

With the attention and support of all levels, sectors and the initiative of enterprises, Lang Son currently has 20 products that have built regional brands, 10 products that have built national brands such as: Chi Lang custard apple was honored by the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development, awarded the gold cup and certificate of Top 10 Golden Brands of Vietnam Agriculture in 2018, 2019; Thai Binh Oolong tea was honored by the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development with the Golden Brand of Vietnam Agriculture in 2021; Trang Dinh black jelly, Mau Son wine entered the Top 100 Vietnamese specialty gifts in 2022...

Expand the market

Along with brand development, trade promotion and market access are also key factors for the province's products to reach out internationally. Accordingly, from 2023 to present, all levels and sectors have advised the Provincial People's Committee to establish nearly 20 working delegations to attend trade fairs, conferences, and working sessions in countries such as the UK, Italy, the US, China, etc.; coordinate to organize the Vietnam - China International Trade and Tourism Fair (Lang Son 2024) along with a series of sideline activities; participate in investment and business forums with countries in the region, etc.

Typically, in May 2024, the Provincial People's Committee established a working delegation to participate in the 2024 Vietnam - China Border Tourism Festival and the 2024 ASEAN - China Import-Export Trade Fair in Pingxiang town. At these two events, the provincial working delegation attended the Pingxiang, Guangxi Silk Road e-commerce exchange conference; attended the conference to promote and connect the consumption of imported and exported agricultural products... In addition, the working delegation supported businesses to display and introduce over 20 typical products, OCOP products, and Lang Son tourism products at 2 booths. Through the fair, it has contributed to promoting economic exchange activities, promoting brands and typical products of the province, and at the same time serving as a bridge between Lang Son businesses and Chinese businesses...

Or in 2024, the Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize the Vietnam - China International Trade and Tourism Fair (Lang Son 2024). This is a prominent trade promotion activity in 2024, targeting the large export market of China. The fair brings together more than 200 domestic and foreign enterprises to display 240 booths, attracting over 18,000 visitors to visit and shop for goods; at the same time, the fair also has attractive sideline activities such as livestream sales, cross-border e-commerce development seminars... to provide market information, create opportunities to connect, promote consumption of products for export.

Through trade promotion activities targeting foreign markets, from 2023 to present, many businesses have approached and connected with foreign partners. Typically, there are 3 units that have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and consumption of the province's products, namely LAISRO Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China) signed with Ban Quyen Agricultural and Forestry Products Service Production Cooperative (Trang Dinh commune) and Kim Son Medicinal Materials Import-Export Company Limited (Hung Vu commune) on cooperation in consuming some products processed from star anise, medicinal materials... Notably, in July 2024, the Provincial Center for Investment Promotion, Trade and Tourism and the China International Trade Promotion Committee, Guangxi Branch signed a memorandum of understanding on enhancing economic and trade cooperation. Accordingly, the two sides agreed to jointly promote and implement cooperation contents on trade promotion, investment and tourism; Support businesses of both sides to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, expand markets...

Mr. Vu Duc Thien, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Investment Promotion, Trade and Tourism, said: Trade promotion in general and trade promotion towards foreign markets in particular are identified by the center as important solutions to support businesses in promoting, developing products, and boosting consumption. In the coming time, the center will continue to research, study, and classify export markets to select businesses and cooperatives with suitable products to participate in trade promotion programs; guide and support businesses in building, protecting and developing brands. At the same time, the center will actively innovate, combining traditional promotion and modern trade promotion through promoting the application of information technology, digital transformation, and developing e-commerce... Thereby, further improving the effectiveness of trade promotion, expanding the consumer market and enhancing the competitiveness of Lang Son branded products in the international market.

With the trade promotion activities targeting foreign markets implemented in recent times, they have brought about practical results, becoming a launching pad, giving wings to many products of the province to reach the international market. Currently, 10 products of the province have been exported, such as: black jelly powder, dried star anise, star anise essential oil exported to China, India, Dubai and some European countries; tea is exported to Taiwan, Russia... Thereby, it not only contributes to affirming the brand, developing typical and characteristic products of Lang Son but also actively contributes to increasing the value of local export turnover of the province. Accordingly, the export turnover of local goods in the period of 2021 - 2025 is estimated at 780 million USD (an average increase of 8.81%), achieving the target set by the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress.
