According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, the country welcomed 3,437,000 foreign tourists in July, up 4.4% year-on-year, surpassing the historical record of July 2024. This is also the highest number of foreign tourists to Japan in a single month ever. From January to the end of July 2025, the number of international tourists to Japan exceeded 24,955,000.

This year, many tourist destinations in Japan are bustling with international visitors.

Among the countries and territories with the largest number of tourists to Japan, China is leading with a growth rate of 25.5%. Also in July, Vietnam, along with countries such as the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, etc., entered the list of 15 key markets for Japanese tourism.

According to another report from travel agencies, along with the record high number of tourists, these businesses have begun to achieve many positive results based on the three criteria set out: "sustainable tourism", "increasing tourist spending" and "attracting and sharing tourists to localities".

In that context, the Japan Tourism Agency said it will continue to monitor and carefully analyze market trends, in order to continue to propose appropriate measures based on the above criteria, aiming to achieve the goal of attracting an average of 60 million foreign visitors annually by 2030.
