On the morning of August 22, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Hanoi City Police, visited 108 Military Central Hospital to visit and encourage Captain Le Dinh Cong (officer of the Mobile Police Department) and his family.
Captain Le Dinh Cong was injured while on duty protecting the parade rehearsal and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on the evening of August 21.
At the hospital, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung and his delegation visited Captain Cong and his family to inquire about his health and encouraged them. The City Police Director acknowledged and commended Captain Cong's sense of responsibility and courage in "forgetting himself for the country and serving the people" while performing his duties of ensuring security and order, contributing to maintaining a peaceful life for the people.
On this occasion, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung directly presented a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee to Captain Le Dinh Cong for his outstanding achievements in ensuring security and order to serve the activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
The City Police Director expressed his gratitude to the medical team at the 108 Military Central Hospital for their dedication and devotion in saving Captain Le Dinh Cong from his critical condition. At the same time, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung requested the hospital to continue to care for and treat Captain Cong so that he can quickly recover, stabilize his health, and soon return to his family and comrades.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung also directed the Mobile Police Department to coordinate with functional units to urgently and fully implement the prescribed policies and regimes, creating conditions for Captain Cong to feel secure in his treatment as well as supporting and encouraging his family to take the best care of Captain Cong.
Previously, at around 8:10 p.m. on August 21, Nguyen Ba Hoai Nam (born in 2007, in Trung Oai village, Phuc Thinh commune, Hanoi) drove a motorbike, carrying Nguyen Van Quan (born in 2007, in Nam Cuong village, Tien Thang commune, Hanoi) at high speed on Nghi Tam road towards Au Co.
At this time, the city police forces are on duty to block the road to serve the parade and march practice session.
Detecting subjects with dangerous behavior towards the parade formation, marching and people; the working group of the City Police on duty at the guard post in front of house number 336A Nghi Tam signaled to stop the vehicle and stop the subjects.
However, the two young men did not comply and continued to drive straight into Captain Le Dinh Cong. The strong impact caused Captain Cong and the two subjects to fall onto the road. Immediately after, the task force controlled and arrested the two young men, and took all three to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Captain Cong suffered a traumatic brain injury, broken nose and jaw, and a broken left arm.
