In a policy briefing, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres proposed the creation of an international code of conduct to combat fake news, and supported the proposal to establish an international agency to oversee artificial intelligence similar to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The United Nations is currently developing a code of conduct on information integrity on digital platforms, which is expected to be introduced at the Future Summit next year.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has suggested that it could place restrictions on deployments, check for compliance with safety standards, and monitor computing power usage.
