Requesting the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to urgently verify the case of "10,000 bottles of fake perfume"

(Dan Tri) - The Drug Administration of Vietnam requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to urgently coordinate with local authorities to verify and synthesize information related to the case of a gang buying and selling more than 10,000 bottles of fake perfume.

Proposal to coordinate in handling the case of "10,000 bottles of fake perfume"

Recently, the Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ) sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health regarding the sale of fake perfume in the area.

According to the document, the Drug Administration recently received information from the press about "Ho Chi Minh City Police busting a gang buying and selling more than 10,000 bottles of fake Chanel, Bvlgari, Dior... perfumes".

The content of the case recorded that the Economic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, has just dismantled a gang that bought and sold nearly 10,000 bottles of fake perfume of famous brands, worth more than 10 billion VND.

The origin of the fake perfume is said to be purchased from China, then stored in many locations in Ho Chi Minh City and classified, packaged into fake perfume products of many famous brands and then sold through applications and groups on the internet.

To promptly detect, prevent and handle violations in the production and trading of cosmetics, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has 3 requests to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health .

Firstly, coordinate with local authorities (Police, Local Steering Committee 389, Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department and related functional departments) to verify and synthesize information related to the above incident.

Verification contents include: List and quantity of products detected and seized; Images, product labels, identification marks, distinction from genuine goods, packaging (if any); Information about the organization, individual producing, trading, distributing;

Results of handling violations by local authorities (decisions on handling administrative violations and remedial measures).

Second, report detailed information to the Drug Administration early for synthesis.

Third, strengthen inspection and examination of the implementation of legal regulations on cosmetics management for cosmetics manufacturing and trading enterprises, especially for businesses on e-commerce trading floors and social networking platforms showing signs of violations.

For organizations and individuals violating the production and trading of cosmetics in the area, they must be strictly handled according to the official dispatches and directives of the Ministry of Health.

"The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health is requested to urgently coordinate and provide information to ensure that cosmetic management is carried out effectively and promptly to protect the health and interests of consumers," the document of the Department of Drug Administration, Ministry of Health stated.

Many cosmetic businesses were inspected and fined.

On July 10, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health also informed about the results of the peak month of fighting, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property rights under the direction of the Prime Minister.

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health coordinated with the Health Departments of districts and Thu Duc City (old) to inspect 1,285 establishments that wholesale drugs, drug ingredients, drug retail establishments (pharmacies); medical equipment businesses; cosmetics production, trading, and import; and medical examination and treatment facilities.

Of which, the Department of Health inspected 226 establishments (including 6 cosmetic establishments; 80 pharmaceutical establishments, 121 establishments producing and trading medical equipment; 19 medical examination and treatment establishments). Thereby, 41 establishments were handled, with a total fine of more than 2.2 billion VND, forced to return the value of the violated exhibits (cosmetics) of more than 39 million VND.

The special task force inspected and handled 3 establishments (2 establishments with advertising violations, 1 establishment with trading in goods of unknown origin) with a total fine of more than 572 million VND.

Local health departments inspected 1,059 medical and pharmaceutical establishments under their management. As a result, 14 establishments were penalized, with a total fine of 169.5 million VND.

In the field of medical equipment, the Department of Health has issued 17 decisions, withdrawing a total of 364 standard announcements applicable to products classified as medical equipment types A and B.

Among them, many products were falsely declared such as hand sanitizer gel, blood glucose meter, massage machine, feminine hygiene solution, ear, nose and throat care tools...
