This is one of the outstanding changes revealed by the Organizing Committee at the announcement ceremony of the CJ Short Film Project season 6, 2025. This year, the contest has the theme "Expand the frame, shine brightly".
Director Pham Ngoc Lan as Associate Advisor at CJ 2025 Short Film Project
According to the representative of the Organizing Committee, this idea comes from how to best support the contestants participating in this year's competition, especially when they have completed their films. At this stage, contestants often have difficulty in not knowing which film festivals their films are suitable for, the time and registration procedures...
“We want to invite contestants from the first season like Pham Ngoc Lan - those who understand the application process very well and have a lot of experience competing at international film festivals. They have also gone through the initial steps to complete their films,” emphasized a representative of CJ CGV Vietnam.
With this selection, the Organizing Committee hopes that this year's short films will continue the success of previous seasons and reap more awards at prestigious international film festivals.
5 members of the Jury at this year's competition
In the 6th season, the CJ Short Film Project is accompanied by a Jury of prestigious filmmakers: directors Charlie Nguyen, Phan Dang Di, Trinh Dinh Le Minh, Tran Thanh Huy, and producer Tran Thi Bich Ngoc.
Not only will they play a role in selecting the five best projects to enter the film funding round, they will also provide professional support to filmmakers so that they can complete their projects in the best way possible.
At the announcement ceremony, all 5 members of the Judging Council said that each person will have different selection criteria and there is no specific formula. However, a well-prepared, professional, serious application with a unique idea will be highly appreciated.
Besides, having a short film produced within the last 3 years is also an important basis for the Jury to have more objective assessments of projects submitted to the contest.
Associate Professor, Dr. Do Lenh Hung Tu, Chairman of Vietnam Cinema Association, spoke at the event.
Associate Professor Dr. Do Lenh Hung Tu, Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association, highly appreciated the achievements of the CJ Short Film Project over the seasons. At the same time, he hoped that this year, young filmmakers will continue to show their passion, creativity and best execute their projects.
The contest will accept applications until July 20, for Vietnamese citizens aged 18-40 with all topics permitted by the Cinema Law, except for two film genres: documentary and animation.
In addition to financial support of up to 1.5 billion VND for 5 selected projects and the cost of attending international film festivals, young directors are also supported with equipment, post-production, and participate in intensive training courses on filmmaking skills with leading film experts from Korea and Vietnam.
The organizers plan to hold a ceremony to honor the best films at the end of 2025.
