At the meeting, shareholders discussed and unanimously approved the plan to issue shares to increase charter capital, helping to strengthen the financial capacity of the Corporation. At the same time, the meeting also approved the decision to invest in a fleet of narrow-body aircraft in the direction of modernizing the fleet, as well as the plan to select an auditing company for the period 2025-2027 and the plan to perfect the personnel of the Board of Directors.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines Dang Ngoc Hoa said that in 2024, besides favorable factors such as impressive growth in the international passenger market and gradually stable fuel prices, Vietnam Airlines will continue to face many difficulties, disadvantages and challenges such as slow global economic recovery, inflationary pressure, exchange rate fluctuations and aircraft shortage.

In that context, Vietnam Airlines has proactively continued to implement many synchronous solutions such as comprehensive restructuring of the organizational structure, optimizing operating costs and expanding the international flight network. The Corporation has also developed and implemented a comprehensive restructuring project to recover and develop sustainably in the long term.

Thanks to the above solutions, the Corporation's consolidated revenue in 2024 reached VND 112,777 billion, exceeding the plan by 8%. Consolidated profit after tax reached a record high of VND 7,958 billion, marking the best result in its history of operation.

Transport volume also recorded strong growth with 22.7 million passengers, up 8% year-on-year, and more than 314 thousand tons of cargo. Fleet efficiency was significantly improved with the average flight hours per aircraft increasing compared to 2023. This positive result will create a solid momentum for Vietnam Airlines to make a breakthrough in 2025 and the following years.

In the first quarter of 2025, Vietnam Airlines recorded impressive business results, with consolidated pre-tax profit estimated at nearly VND 3,625 billion, transporting 6.2 million passengers, an increase of 6.7% over the same period last year.

Speaking at the Congress, a representative of Vietnam Airlines emphasized that 2025 is a pivotal year for the Corporation to enter a new development phase. Vietnam Airlines plans to increase its charter capital by VND22,000 billion in two phases, including an increase of VND9,000 billion in 2025 and a further increase of VND13,000 billion in 2026. This capital increase will help Vietnam Airlines escape negative capital and consolidate a solid financial foundation, enhance competitiveness and create favorable conditions for sustainable development.

The increase in charter capital will help Vietnam Airlines improve its liquidity, improve the quality of its financial indicators and reduce its debt ratio. This will also create favorable conditions for the airline to access capital sources to develop its fleet, improve service quality and implement long-term strategies.

In addition to increasing capital, at the Congress, Vietnam Airlines also approved the project to purchase 50 narrow-body aircraft by 2032. This is an urgent project in the airline's fleet development plan, in which narrow-body aircraft always play an important role for short and medium-haul flights.

Vietnam Airlines continues to promote restructuring its organizational structure towards streamlining, efficiency and flexibility. At the same time, the airline focuses on optimizing operational processes to improve production and business efficiency, reduce costs and improve customer service quality. The corporation also focuses on innovating management methods, improving the capacity of its staff, creating a foundation for a period of strong growth in the coming time.

In its fleet modernization strategy, Vietnam Airlines focuses on investing in narrow-body aircraft to improve operational efficiency and better meet growing transportation needs. At the same time, the Corporation is also promoting the opening and restoration of 15 key international routes to markets such as Italy, Russia, Denmark, China, Japan and the UAE. These steps will help Vietnam Airlines expand its market share and enhance its competitiveness in the international market.

Vietnam Airlines affirms that it will continue to closely monitor market developments to come up with appropriate solutions, ensure financial safety and optimize business efficiency.

With clearly planned financial solutions and development strategies, Vietnam Airlines is making constant efforts to recover and grow strongly. This extraordinary general meeting of shareholders is expected to be an important turning point to help the Corporation realize its major goals in the restructuring and modernization process, contributing to the development of the Vietnamese aviation industry.
