DNO - The City People's Committee has just issued Official Dispatch No. 1954/UBND-STNMT dated April 15, 2024 requesting the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to direct the Department of Water Resources Management to continue to pay attention to and coordinate with departments, branches and sectors of Da Nang city in closely monitoring and urging hydropower reservoir owners to operate in accordance with the inter-reservoir operation process on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin to ensure adequate water supply for daily life, tourism, services, production and other purposes in the downstream area until the end of the dry season this year.

Da Nang has also requested hydropower reservoir owners on the Vu Gia River basin to submit plans for water discharge operations downstream from April 29 to May 3, 2024. In case hydroelectric reservoirs discharge water to generate electricity with a discharge flow rate less than the regulations of the above process according to the requirements for ensuring electricity security, it is necessary to discharge with a flow rate sufficient to maintain the water level of Yen River at the upstream of An Trach dam at no less than 1.6m, to ensure safe water supply for Da Nang city.

Previously, on April 12, the City People's Committee also issued Official Dispatch No. 1894/UBND-STNMT requesting the owners of A Vuong, Song Bung 4, Song Bung 4A, Song Bung 5, Song Bung 6 and Dak Mi 4 hydropower reservoirs to send plans for water discharge to downstream areas from April 29 to May 3, 2024 to coordinate in promptly handling issues related to water supply to downstream areas, ensuring absolutely no water shortage during the upcoming peak tourist season on the occasion of the April 30 and May 1 holidays (lasting 5 days).
