Cuban News quoted the Director of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (UNE) as saying that the work to consolidate and expand the coverage of electricity is still ongoing. Cuban officials hope that several power plants will soon be operational to increase the total electricity supply.

Cuban Energy and Mines Minister Vicente de la O Levy said technicians were working carefully to avoid another blackout, adding that the country's strategy for restoring the grid was to be "slow and steady" and avoid putting pressure on the grid.
