Previously, the consumption of Thai Nguyen agricultural products mainly relied on traditional retail, small consumption markets, and low added value of agricultural products. Implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and telegrams and directives of the Prime Minister related to e-commerce, the Provincial People's Committee has issued many documents directing departments, branches, and localities to synchronously deploy solutions to strengthen State management and promote e-commerce development in the province.

From here, businesses, cooperatives, and people gradually approach e-commerce, can film their own promotional clips for their products, and directly participate in online sales sessions organized by Thai Nguyen province.

The biggest success is that the Department of Industry and Trade has consulted with the Provincial People's Committee to sign a memorandum of understanding with TikTok Vietnam and Shopee Vietnam Company Limited. From here, millions of customers across the country have been able to access agricultural products in Thai Nguyen province on the TikTok Shop e-commerce platform and Shopee e-commerce platform.

After many days of efforts, with the support and assistance of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade of Thai Nguyen and Shopee Vietnam, in early April 2025, Ban Viet Production, Trade and Service Cooperative launched the Ban Viet - Thai Nguyen Store on Shopee E-commerce Platform, connecting with the "Thai Nguyen Product Store" Page.

Ms. Bui Thi Hai Yen, Director of Ban Viet Production, Trade and Service Cooperative, informed: As of July 3, 2025, Ban Viet Cooperative has organized 120 livestream sessions to promote and sell products on the Shopee e-commerce platform; posted 84 products/product sets on the booth; successfully sold 900 orders. We are coordinating with units and cooperatives to bring typical products of Thai Nguyen province to the booth; organize daily livestream sales to introduce, promote and consume products.

In the northern communes of the province, in recent times, departments, branches, associations and unions have stepped up support for people to create accounts on e-commerce platforms. According to statistics, up to now, nearly 16,000 farming households in Bac Kan (old) have been supported to create accounts on e-commerce platforms, with over 300 specialty products being put on the Postmart.vn platform.

In April 2025, the Farmers' Association of Bac Kan province (now Thai Nguyen) organized 8 training courses for nearly 300 cooperative directors and cooperative group leaders on digital transformation, brand building and access to the e-commerce market.

Through training programs and support in packaging and label design to creating e-commerce accounts, thousands of farmers in northern communes of Thai Nguyen province have been able to promote and consume products on digital platforms.

Expanding business space

Not only supporting businesses, cooperatives, and agricultural and forestry production establishments to do business on e-commerce platforms, Thai Nguyen province is also promoting the construction of an e-commerce street model.

This activity aims to support businesses and business establishments to maximize the advantages and potential of the digital economy, open up many new opportunities and enhance customer experience by combining online and offline shopping; promote cashless payments and optimize logistics.

Ms. Doan Thi Thuy Duong, owner of the shop "Thuy Duong - office fashion" on Luong Ngoc Quyen street, Phan Dinh Phung ward, shared: I and other businesses registered to participate in the e-commerce street were trained by the Department of Industry and Trade on an overview of e-commerce and online business.

We were also instructed on how to open and operate booths on Shopee, TikTok shop and manage orders, take product photos, design techniques with Canva software; edit videos with Capcut software; livestream methods on TikTok, Shopee platforms, promote products and set up promotional programs... thereby helping to open up new opportunities in business, Ms. Doan Thi Thuy Duong added.

Not only Ms. Doan Thi Thuy Duong, up to now, there have been 162 businesses on Luong Ngoc Quyen street registered to participate in the e-commerce street model to open booths and do business on e-commerce floors and e-commerce platforms.

Na Vo Nhai identifies numbers, increases value

To promote value chain development, Thai Nguyen province has decided to build the Vo Nhai Na product brand as a basis for replication towards the formation of a "Thai Nguyen garden" in the digital environment for the province's key crops and advantages. Thereby gradually changing the mindset and methods in agricultural production, shifting from agricultural production thinking to agricultural economics associated with digital transformation.

The Center for Agricultural Extension and Environment (under the Department of Agriculture and Environment) has built a Vo Nhai custard apple garden model on a digital environment with a scale of 100 trees. The model implements care according to VietGAP, intensively spreads out crops to extend the harvest time with a yield of 20-30kg/tree/year, assigns codes to each tree, applies software to manage production practices and sell trees on a digital platform.

There are 2 households, Mr. Kieu Thuong Chat and Mr. Nguyen Van Giang, in Mo Ga hamlet, Vo Nhai commune, participating in this model. The implementation period is from January to December 2025.

The model is equipped with a 24/7 camera system connected to a digital platform. The goal of the model when applying e-commerce to sell custard apple trees and experience caring for custard apple trees helps increase value, 1 custard apple tree helps farmers harvest 6 million VND/year.

Diversifying policies to support businesses, cooperatives, and farming households in applying digital transformation and doing business on e-commerce platforms has made positive contributions to the development of trade and services in the province.

The province’s e-commerce sales currently account for over 10% of total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue. This reflects the strong development of online distribution channels, especially in the consumer and agricultural sectors…
