In the year of Mau Dan - 1698, Commander Nguyen Huu Canh entered the South, took Dong Pho land to establish Gia Dinh prefecture to divide the border; took Dong Nai as Phuoc Long district, established Tran Bien citadel; took Saigon as Tan Binh district, established Phien Tran citadel. From then on, Saigon - Gia Dinh officially appeared on the map of Dai Viet, blending into the hearts of the nation as an inseparable part of flesh and blood.
In the early 20th century, amidst the fierce turmoil of the chaotic period, Saigon witnessed the aspirational footsteps of the patriotic young man Nguyen Tat Thanh leaving to find a way to save the country on June 5, 1911 from Nha Rong port. He carried with him the aspiration for independence and freedom for the Vietnamese people. From here, the light of truth shone, guiding the revolutionary movement in the South and the whole country to rise up, forging a steadfast will, forming a waterfall of uprising.
Under the flag of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh , that arduous journey ended in a glorious victory in the historic spring of 1975. From now on, the country will be united, closing a tragic chapter and opening a new era for "the Southern citadel of the Fatherland".


On July 2, 1976, fulfilling the expectations of the people of the South who missed Uncle Ho, Saigon - Gia Dinh city was officially and honorably named after President Ho Chi Minh. From here, a new chapter opened, Ho Chi Minh City - the city of the future, of integration, of restless aspirations.
Through a journey of 327 years, from ancient Gia Dinh to today's Ho Chi Minh City, this land is not only the origin of many generations of pioneers, but also a vibrant space of cultural exchanges, of indomitable spirit and the desire to constantly rise. In particular, the year 2025 marks a strategic change for the City named after Uncle Ho, when merging three localities: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.


The special art program Ho Chi Minh City - Radiant new era , performed by the City Art Center, was staged grandly with the following content: Opening speech - Ceremony - Pride of Ho Chi Minh City ; Chapter 1 - Radiant South ; Chapter 2 - Heroic land ; Chapter 3 - The city named after Uncle Ho enters a new era .
The audience enjoyed the performances: Southern musical scene: Huong dat tinh nguoi, On the wharf, under the boat, Luu dau vang son ; songs: Ho Chi Minh City, where the rivers meet, Love of the red land of the East, Singing with Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau in our hearts, Ho Chi Minh City, the city I love, New era in Uncle Ho's city...
The program features performances by People's Artists Trong Phuc, Ta Minh Tam, Huu Quoc; Meritorious Artists Le Hong Tham, Ngoc Doi, Le Trung Thao, Thy Trang, Tam Tam, Pham The Vi, Khanh Ngoc... and artists from the Ho Chi Minh City Opera Theater.
