Developed from grassroots sports…
Along with investing in infrastructure to create conditions for people to practice sports, the province also organizes many mass sports competitions such as: Olympic Running Day for the health of the people, Children's Olympic Day and programs to encourage the whole population to practice swimming to prevent drowning. In addition, on average, the province organizes 21 provincial-level sports competitions every year and cooperates with related sectors to promote the sports movement among the people. Among the provincial-level sports competitions that have been organized, it is necessary to mention the Tien Giang Province Table Tennis Tournament for the UNREX Cup - an annual tournament that always attracts the participation of 500 athletes or more.
The movement of sports training among the masses is spreading more and more strongly. The system of sports clubs at the facility has developed diversely from football, volleyball, badminton, chess to traditional and modern sports such as gym, yoga, bodybuilding, martial arts. This diversity has met the training needs of many ages and social classes.
Entering the new phase (2025 - 2030), the Tien Giang Sports and Physical Training sector has clearly defined strategic directions, taking people as the center, movement as the foundation, and achievement as the destination. The specific goal is that by 2030, the whole province will have 40% of people regularly practicing sports, 27% of households practicing sports, and 75% of communes having synchronous and effective cultural and sports institutions. At the same time, school sports and grassroots sports will continue to be invested in to build a solid successor force for the provincial teams.
