Focus on developing green renewable energy ecosystem at SHTP

On the morning of June 17, the High-Tech Business Incubator (Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park - SHTP) in collaboration with DFM-TECH Joint Stock Company organized a workshop on "Developing an ecosystem for green renewable energy technology". At the workshop, management agencies, businesses and experts shared many models, solutions and experiences in the field of renewable energy and the roadmap for developing green Hydrogen energy.

Overview of the workshop

In the current global context, renewable energy, including green hydrogen technology, has become an irreversible trend and is considered the foundation for sustainable economic growth. Vietnam has institutionalized its commitment to sustainable development through key policies, typically the National Energy Development Strategy and Vietnam's Hydrogen Energy Development Strategy.

At the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Hai An, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Biotechnology Center, shared about the rooftop solar power solution being applied at the center, aiming to reduce part of the electricity cost when operating laboratories, specialized activities, ensuring equipment operates 24/7...

"In addition to renewable energy, we also research biological products that contribute to reducing environmental pollution and developing a circular economy. This is also the direction that the center is focusing on. Through the workshop, we hope that businesses will support, cooperate, and build projects on green renewable energy, especially on electricity consumption. This is an economical direction, contributing to SHTP's Net zero project," said Dr. Nguyen Hai An.

Ho Chi Minh City aims to have renewable energy sources (solar power, waste-to-energy, wind power) account for about 15% of the total system capacity by 2030. This strategy not only ensures energy security for the city, but is also a key step in fulfilling the national commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, this process faces many challenges, requiring the removal of policy mechanisms and the completion of infrastructure. To realize this, no organization can go it alone, so the Management Board is ready to listen to multi-dimensional perspectives and breakthrough proposals to create a dynamic energy ecosystem, where technology is developed and resources are effectively connected.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, shares the orientation of green energy development at SHTP.

“SHTP has set a target of more than 50% of total energy consumption at SHTP coming from renewable sources. This is a target that demonstrates SHTP's pioneering role in promoting green transformation in the high-tech industry sector. This figure is higher than the general target of 15% for the whole city. SHTP not only responds but also wants to become a model area, a "living laboratory" for sustainable energy solutions, shaping itself into an international center of science and innovation with a clear green mark", Associate Professor Dr. Le Quoc Cuong emphasized.

In the context of the global supply chain being “greened”, meeting and surpassing clean energy standards will be a key factor to strengthen SHTP’s position, promoting high-quality FDI capital flows, especially in the microchip, semiconductor and biotechnology sectors. The workshop recorded the experiences of large corporations and the perspectives of startups, thereby outlining a panoramic picture of the opportunities and challenges in building a green and sustainable energy ecosystem at SHTP.
