According to voter Le Van Khuyen (Thoi Tam Thon commune, Hoc Mon district), many non-professional officials were confused after the merger of communes; he requested that the competent authorities promptly announce the list of those who were not assigned as well as the time of resignation, so that they could proactively arrange new jobs.
Mr. Do Trung Tin (Hoc Mon district) said that after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces, Ho Chi Minh City only has 168 commune-ward level units, but the information technology infrastructure and administrative equipment at the commune level are still inadequate, not synchronized, the internet is unstable, and there are many concurrently-held officials, so there is concern about low work efficiency...
President Luong Cuong emphasized that the meeting with voters in Hoc Mon and Cu Chi districts was very special, because it took place during the final days of operation of the three-level local government, ready to end district-level operations and switch to a two-level local government model.
The President said that after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces, the new Ho Chi Minh City will become a megacity with more than 13.6 million people and 168 wards and communes.
"This reform aims to streamline and help the government operate effectively, close to the people, but will pose many challenges, requiring the efforts and solidarity of the entire political system, the government and the support and consensus of the people. The new government must operate effectively, without affecting the activities of society, businesses and people" - the President emphasized.
