Quy Nhon welcomes many international scientific events, connecting young Francophone generation

The International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province) is organizing many international scientific and educational events, attracting many scientists, graduate students and students from many countries, including inviting the Professor who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2016.

On June 29, at the ICISE Center, the Rencontres du Vietnam Science Association in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of France in Vietnam organized the opening of an international conference with the theme: "From Mekong to Ocean: Connecting the young generation of LabelFrancÉducation High Schools".

The conference took place over 3 days (June 29 to July 1), bringing together nearly 90 delegates, including representatives of the French Embassy in Vietnam, the FrenchEducation Agency Abroad (AEFE), the French Research Institute for Development (IRD), as well as teachers and students from France, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. All students attending came from high schools in the LabelFrancÉducation network - a global system of high-quality French bilingual training institutions managed by AEFE.

According to Professor Tran Thanh Van, President of the Rencontres du Vietnam, the conference aims to connect Francophone students in the region, strengthen educational friendship among countries, and respond to the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Ocean held in Nice (France). The main theme of the conference is ocean and marine space conservation.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that this conference is not only meaningful in terms of education but also contributes to enhancing cultural exchange, promoting understanding and connection between young generations in the LabelFrancÉducation network - a high-quality bilingual education initiative coordinated by AEFE. In particular, the event brings together students from three Southeast Asian countries: Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, which have long-standing friendly relations and share the cultural and historical flow of the Mekong River.

“The conference is an opportunity for students to experience an international academic space, develop global citizenship thinking and share ideas on preserving the Mekong River and the ocean. This is also an opportunity to inspire the spirit of humanity, science and towards a sustainable future,” Mr. Lam Hai Giang emphasized.

Nobel Prize-winning Physics professor inspires in Quy Nhon

Also within the framework of activities at ICISE, on the morning of June 30, the Vietnam Science Association will coordinate with the Asia- Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) to open the “Advanced School of Quantum Topological Materials”. The event brings together 40 scientists and researchers from 10 countries, including the UK, Canada, Chile, Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore.

A special highlight of the program is the direct teaching of Professor Duncan Haldane - winner of the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physics.

On the morning of June 30, Professor Haldane will meet and share his inspiration with students attending the conference “From Mekong to Ocean”. This is a valuable opportunity for students to get closer to the spirit of international scientific research and to awaken their desire to conquer knowledge.
