Let's go to the new city
Ten days after the merger of Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city, many people have gradually become accustomed to the image of hurried buses leaving early in the morning and returning to the west of the city late at night.
The footsteps became more hurried and urgent because the time in a day gradually narrowed due to the long distance travel. A working day in Hai Phong City only started from 7am to 5pm but not everyone finished all their work within that time to get home on time.

Many women shared with each other that they had to take advantage of the weekend to prepare food for the whole family. Those whose husbands worked bought lunch boxes and prepared meals for their husbands to take away because eating out was boring, and there were not many restaurants around the new Hai Phong City Political - Administrative Center.
After daily trips back and forth, some people gradually get used to eating, sleeping, resting, and even working on the bus. Some people switch to staying to save time and energy. Some officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers have rented or bought houses to live in, only returning to their hometowns on weekends or when something comes up.
Currently, students are on summer vacation, which is convenient for many families to choose schools, choose houses, and apply for their children to study in a new place. Many families have stabilized as parents adapt to new jobs and offices, and children are ready for the new school year and new school.
Some agencies and units of Hai Phong City have proactively prepared facilities, working conditions, and accommodation for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers after the merger.
At To Hieu Political School, the school's Board of Directors has surveyed the physical facilities to calculate the arrangement of workplaces and accommodations for cadres and lecturers who will move from the old Hai Duong Provincial Political School to work and teach here.
Temporarily, some departments can use lecture halls as workplaces and staff and lecturers moving from the west of the city can use student dormitories as accommodation.

However, the school's facilities were built a long time ago, not taking into account the scale after the merger. The To Hieu Political School Construction Investment Project is about to be implemented, many buildings are expected to be demolished for construction.
The school is coordinating with investors to adjust the planning, especially speeding up the progress, taking into account the arrangement of workplaces and accommodations suitable for the larger scale after the merger.
Mr. Pham Duc Minh, Head of the Department of Organization, Administration, Information and Documentation said: "The school is trying to arrange and prepare facilities, especially accommodation. However, there are still many difficulties, so people who work far from home like us have to be proactive. We really hope that this project will be implemented soon, the school will be invested in a more synchronous and systematic way, suitable for the new scale, with a support mechanism for staff and civil servants who work far from home to stabilize their work and life".
New style of commune cadres

Not only the new city officials but also the new commune officials have made great efforts to stabilize their jobs and lives after the merger.
In the second week after the new city and commune came into operation, many commune officials and civil servants made their first trips to the center of Hai Phong city to perform their duties.
At 12:30 noon on July 9, a group of officials in charge of social culture in several communes in the former Nam Sach district gathered at the Nam Sach commune People's Committee headquarters (formerly the district People's Committee headquarters) to travel from the commune to the center of Hai Phong city to attend a training session.
It was rush hour so the traffic was a bit congested. It was about 6:45 pm when the girls got home and it was already dark.
"This is the first time we have attended a training session in the new city, and also the first time we have attended a training session as commune officials. The distance is longer, but we have determined that since the province and city have merged, the new commune officials must also work in a new, more dynamic way, so we will gradually get used to it and stabilize," said Ms. Trinh Thi Ngoc, Head of the Department of Culture and Society of An Phu commune.
Previously, going to the center of Hai Phong city was an out-of-province trip that required careful preparation and arrangement of work, but now the commune officials and civil servants consider it an inner-city trip like a normal day trip.

Previously, Ms. Diep Thi Thu was the Director of the Agricultural Service Center of Chi Linh City, now appointed as Chief of Office of the Party Committee of Nguyen Trai Ward - a large and far from the center.
"The way to work is now much farther from home than before, so I have to proactively plan my travel and accommodation to ensure I can both fulfill my duties and take care of my family," said Ms. Thu.
Although she has just started to settle down and still has many difficulties, looking at her colleagues who are working much further away than her, Ms. Thu feels that she still has advantages and must try to adapt.
That is also the common mindset of many cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers who are striving to adapt to rapid changes and are ready to accept new challenges and tasks in the future.
