Officers and soldiers of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command always affirm their core role in performing their duties, accompanying and supporting fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea.

The Coast Guard Region 3 Command has just held a conference to review the work of the first 6 months of 2025.

Steadfast at the forefront

Chairing the conference, Major General Ngo Binh Minh, Commander of Coast Guard Region 3, said that in the face of complicated developments in the East Sea and increasing demands in protecting sovereignty , Coast Guard Region 3 is constantly improving its capacity, becoming a reliable support for fishermen and a core force in protecting sea and island sovereignty.

In the first 6 months of the year, the Party Committee and the Regional Command comprehensively led and directed all aspects of work, strictly maintained the combat readiness system, especially during peak times. The on-duty system at the units was tightly organized, ensuring that no passive or unexpected situations occurred. The entire region organized 97 patrols, inspections, and law enforcement at sea; promptly handled many arising situations, propagated and resolutely chased away many groups of foreign fishing boats that violated Vietnam's waters.

Leaders of Coast Guard Region 3 Command commended individuals with outstanding achievements.

Along with patrolling, the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing is also being stepped up with great determination, especially in the waters bordering Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and key fishing grounds.

One of the particularly important tasks of Coast Guard Region 3 is to support fishermen in search and rescue operations and ensure maritime security. The force received and processed 89 information related to search and rescue, dispatched 6 ships and boats to carry out the mission, rescued 8 crew members, recovered one body and provided timely first aid to 2 fishermen in distress at sea.

Major General Ngo Binh Minh assessed that with its regular presence in the vast sea and with specific actions in supporting fishermen, conducting search and rescue, coordinating against IUU fishing and fighting against violations of the law at sea, the Coast Guard has affirmed its core role in managing and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands. This is not only a task, but also a pride and an ideal for every officer and soldier when wearing the Coast Guard uniform.

Strengthening military-civilian ties

Identifying human resources as the key factor in performing tasks, the Party Committee and the Regional Command have strictly implemented resolutions and directives from superiors; organized combat training and exercises according to practical plans close to mission requirements; 100% of officers and soldiers have been fully trained and educated according to the 2025 plan.

Propaganda and political and ideological education work has also been promoted. More than 700 news and articles have been published in the mass media, comprehensively reflecting the unit's activities, spreading patriotism, responsibility and the image of marine soldiers in the new era.

Party building work is focused on successfully organizing Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term; carefully preparing for the 6th Regional Party Congress. The work of inspection, supervision, party member development, cadre planning, and policy settlement is carried out in accordance with regulations, ensuring publicity and transparency, creating motivation for all cadres and soldiers.

A highlight in the activities of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command is the movement "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen" which is increasingly going into depth. Coast Guard officers and soldiers actively go to the area to carry out mass mobilization work, combining with activities to support fishermen. The unit has presented 671 gifts and many practical gifts to fishermen and students in difficult circumstances in coastal areas. These activities not only demonstrate responsibility to the community but also strengthen the relationship between the military and the people, consolidating the "people's hearts" at sea.

Immediately after the conference, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 launched a peak emulation campaign to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2; the 6th Congress of the Coast Guard Party Committee; the 11th Congress of the Army's Determination to Win Emulation and the 12th Congress of the Army Party Committee.

Major General Ngo Binh Minh praised the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and achievements of agencies and units. "The entire region needs to continue to thoroughly grasp the directives and resolutions of all levels; grasp the situation at sea, effectively handle arising situations; improve the quality of training, build disciplined units, strict discipline, and the highest combat readiness spirit" - Major General Ngo Binh Minh emphasized.

On this occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 collectives and 2 individuals with outstanding achievements in the "Lightning Speed ​​- Victory" peak emulation campaign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025). In addition, 4 outstanding individuals in service and participation in the parade at the celebration were also commended and rewarded.
