The Government provides emergency support of 150 billion VND to Yen Bai and Lao Cai to overcome storm Yagi.

Faced with severe damage caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi), in order to provide urgent support to Yen Bai and Lao Cai provinces to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, on September 12 and 13, the Ministry of Finance submitted to the Government a decision on supplementing the central budget reserve in 2024 to provide emergency support to Yen Bai and Lao Cai provinces.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Finance submitted to the Government to support Lao Cai province with 150 billion VND and Yen Bai province with 30 billion VND (in addition to 20 billion VND already supported for Yen Bai province in Decision No. 943/QD-TTg dated September 9, 2024 of the Prime Minister) to provide emergency support for the two provinces to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 and stabilize people's lives.

The Ministry of Finance also submitted to the Government to assign the People's Committees of Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces to be responsible for specifically allocating and using the above-mentioned additional funds to ensure compliance with the provisions of the law on the state budget and other relevant legal documents. Previously, the Minister of Finance issued an Official Dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities; the Departments of Finance of provinces and centrally-run cities; the General Department of State Reserves; and the affiliated State Reserve Departments regarding the overcoming of damage and incidents caused by storm No. 3.

According to the content of this dispatch, in order to promptly overcome the damage caused by storms and storm circulations, the Minister of Finance requested to urgently review the damage, arrange local budgets, and reserve local budgets to support and overcome the damage, ensure the stability of people's lives, and restore socio-economic activities in the area. In case the local budget is difficult, it is requested to urgently synthesize and propose support plans to send to the Central Government for resolution.

The General Department of State Reserves directed regional State Reserve Departments to arrange forces to be on duty 24/7; organize the timely supply of rice, rescue vehicles and materials, speedboats, life buoys, medicines, etc. from national reserves to provinces and cities upon request.
