Sisters Nguyen Le Van Khanh, born in 2010 and Nguyen Van Minh, born in 2012 in Yen Tu ward, have difficult circumstances. Their parents are divorced, they live with their mother, but their mother has a brain tumor; they live far from home, with no relatives nearby... In April 2024, the Party Committee and the Board of Supervisors of the Detention Camp (Provincial Police) took over the sponsorship and supported each child with one million VND/month until they turn 18.
With the care and support of their godparents who are officers and soldiers of the Detention Center (Provincial Police), Khanh and Minh, in addition to taking care of their mother, have constantly strived to excel in their studies. Last school year, Van Khanh successfully passed the entrance exam to Uong Bi High School and attended the Love Summer Camp organized by the Ministry of Public Security .
Van Khanh shared: Not only do they visit and send gifts regularly, but every day the police godmothers also call to remind, encourage and guide me to take care of my mother and pay attention to studying hard. This is an extremely great affection, helping me push back my worries and focus on studying. Van Khanh confided that she is determined to pass the entrance exam to the Military Medical Academy to become a military doctor to help many people, especially those in difficult circumstances like her.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Bao Ngoc, Deputy Warden of the Detention Camp (Provincial Police), said: In addition to sponsoring Khanh and Minh's children until they turn 18, the Party Committee and the Prison Warden Board will continue to closely monitor, guide and support the children in choosing a career so that they can start a business later. In addition, the unit has also directed local sub-camps to continue screening cases of children with especially difficult circumstances for sponsorship.
With the desire to bring good things, compensate for the loss of fate for children in difficult circumstances, help them confidently rise up in life, the godparents of the provincial police officers have opened their arms of love, accepted to care for, raise and help 50 children in difficult circumstances in the province. Along with supporting the children financially and materially, the godparents who are police officers also regularly coordinate with the grassroots police force, local socio-political organizations to care for, monitor their children's studies, support them in their studies and in their lives; guide them in self-protection skills, self-care and psychological counseling, giving them wings to have more support, confidence, and determination to strive to rise up in their studies and lives to become useful citizens for society.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thi Thuy Hien, Head of the Women's Committee (Provincial Police), life is not always easy, there are losses and disadvantages that the children have to face at a young age. But the children are not alone on that journey. Along with the children, there are also mothers, godfathers, police aunts and uncles, and many other loving people who always accompany and follow. Although the road ahead is still long, the provincial police godparents are committed to always accompany the children, helping them overcome all difficulties. The parents also hope that the children will try, always be good, study well, live with determination, have dreams, and be compassionate so that in the future they will become useful people for society and inspire others - just like the children themselves today inspired the godparents in police uniform.
