Ships from Squadron 401 from Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province, carry more than 350 cubic meters of fresh water to supply residents and armed forces stationed on Hon Chuoi Island, and are operating in the area. The water is pumped directly to fishing boats near shore or piped to households.

According to the Commander of Coast Guard Region 4, the provision of fresh water is to share people's difficulties during drought and ensure their daily needs.

Hon Chuoi has an area of about 7 km2, and is one of the important outpost islands facing the sea of the country. The island belongs to Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district, 17 nautical miles west of Song Doc estuary. There are 39 households registered for permanent residence on the island, currently 25 households are permanently present and living, the rest work far away; the source of fresh water depends on rainwater.

Previously, the Military Region 9 Command used three ships with a capacity of 60-200 tons to carry more than 1,600 m3 of clean water to provide free of charge to people lacking clean water in Thoi Binh and U Minh districts, Ca Mau province.

According to statistics from the functional sector, currently, the whole province of Ca Mau has more than 2,600 households lacking and not being able to proactively source water for daily life due to drought. Of these, more than 1,700 households have especially difficult access to water sources due to the inability to exploit groundwater, dry canals, subsidence of roads, and traffic disruption...
