DNO - On the morning of August 26, in Hanoi, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference to summarize the program and emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses". The conference took place in person, combined with online broadcast to localities and was broadcast live on television and radio.

According to the report at the conference, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has been vigorously implemented with the close direction of the Party and State, the participation of all levels and sectors, and the support of the community. After only 1 year, 4 months and 13 days since its launch (April 2024), including 10 months and 21 peak days, the whole country has basically completed the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, reaching the finish line 5 years and 4 months ahead of schedule set out in Resolution No. 42-NQ/TW dated November 24, 2023 of the Central Executive Committee on continuing to innovate and improve the quality of social policies, meeting the requirements of national construction and defense in the new period.

By the end of 2023, the country will still have nearly 400,000 temporary and dilapidated houses that do not meet the "3 hard" standards (hard foundation, hard frame - wall, hard roof). However, thanks to high determination and mobilization of resources from the whole society, the program has supported the elimination of 334,234 temporary and dilapidated houses with a total cost of nearly 50,000 billion VND.

This result affirms the strong leadership of the Party and State; ensures the basic right to housing of citizens, and demonstrates the international commitment of the Prime Minister at the Global Summit on Poverty Eradication in Brazil.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that we have completed 5 years and 4 months ahead of the target of Resolution No. 42-NQ/TW and 4 months ahead of the target when launching the emulation movement. Of which, all housing for people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs has been completed before July 24, 2025.

According to the Prime Minister, each house is a living proof - "a gift", "a warm home", "a love", sharing with the needy, gratitude to those who have contributed, realizing the Party's correct policies and guidelines; demonstrating the good and superior nature of our regime; affirming the humanistic values ​​and fine moral traditions of the nation "Repaying gratitude", "When drinking water, remember its source", "Remember the one who planted the tree when eating the fruit", "The healthy leaves cover the torn ones".

Arouse national pride and self-esteem, strengthen people's trust in the Party's leadership; enhance national solidarity; contribute to promoting economic development, ensuring social security, and consolidating national defense and security.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide has been basically achieved, but this is only an important step in social policy. The core is still to continue to promote production and business, create jobs and livelihoods, constantly improve the quality of life and material and spiritual life of the people, encourage people to escape poverty sustainably, move towards legitimate enrichment for themselves and contribute to society.

The Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoa Khanh Ward presented gifts to households in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the ward.

The Prime Minister requested that in the coming time, central and local levels, ministries, branches and sectors determine that caring for and supporting housing for people with meritorious services, poor and near-poor households, and people living in areas frequently affected by natural disasters and climate change is a regular, continuous and long-term task.

For the 334,234 households that have received support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses, it is only the initial foundation for "settling down", so in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to support these households to "settle down", striving for Vietnam to basically have no more poor households by 2030 in the spirit of Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated June 23, 2021 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in sustainable poverty reduction by 2030.

The Ministry of Finance shall preside over and coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to thoroughly grasp the Party's policy on using the State budget as the main and fundamental resource in ensuring social security, along with mobilizing social resources, especially in vocational training, solving livelihoods and employment for the poor and ethnic minorities.

The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security direct the people's armed forces to continue promoting revolutionary traditions, closely attached to the people, being both the core force protecting national sovereignty and security, and a solid foundation in economic and social development, ensuring social security for people, especially in border areas, islands, remote and isolated areas.

At the conference, 19 collectives were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President; 19 collectives were awarded certificates of merit by the Prime Minister. Da Nang City was awarded a certificate of merit by the Prime Minister for its outstanding achievements in this work.
