(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Due to the impact of storm No. 5 and heavy rain after the storm, floods on rivers in Thanh Hoa are rising rapidly. The dike system has experienced many incidents, especially on the left and right dikes of Chu River in the communes of Tho Lap, Xuan Lap, Xuan Hoa, Tho Xuan, Dong Tien, Thieu Quang and the left dike of Hoat River, Ha Long commune.

Due to heavy rain and rising floods, during the day and night of August 26, many areas in Thanh Hoa province were flooded, dykes collapsed, and hundreds of households were isolated. In the emergency situation, Thanh Hoa police force, especially the police of communes and wards with dykes that were eroded and flooded, promptly deployed forces, mobilized materials, vehicles, and equipment to coordinate with forces participating in dyke protection, and directly went to each house in the dangerous area to evacuate people and move property to safe areas, contributing to minimizing damage and protecting people's lives and property.

At 5:00 p.m. on August 26, the Thanh Hoa Province Civil Defense Command issued a third alert on the Len River. Rapidly rising floodwaters broke 80m of the T2 canal embankment in Tong Son Commune, inundating 200 hectares of rice fields and directly threatening the safety of the people.

After discovering the incident, the People's Committee of Tong Son commune coordinated with the military, police, local shock forces and people to implement the "4 on-site" motto and actively take measures to overcome the incident.

Upon receiving the information, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, the Provincial Police mobilized 50 officers and soldiers from the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Area 1 and Area 3, along with vehicles and equipment, to quickly arrive at the scene, coordinate with the Tong Son Commune Police and local forces to deploy a dike protection plan and reinforce the broken dike section. At the same time, they urgently organized the evacuation of people's assets. Thanks to the efforts of the functional forces, about 100 tons of rice in the warehouse near the affected area were moved to a safe place, minimizing damage.

Also on the night of August 26, the Ma River water level rose, directly affecting households in Gia Du village, Cam Thuy commune. At around 9:30 p.m., upon receiving the news that more than 100 households in Gia Du village were isolated due to floodwaters, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police mobilized 25 officers and soldiers from the Fire Fighting and Rescue Teams of Area 1 and Area 4, using 2 jet skis, 1 rubber boat, and 1 mobile lighting machine to urgently arrive at the scene to evacuate the isolated residents.

After nearly 1 hour of effort in the dark, the Fire Police and Rescue Force coordinated with the Commune Police and local authorities to bring about 70 people, mainly the elderly and children, to safety, ensuring absolute safety for the people.

Currently, in Thanh Hoa province, the water level on the downstream rivers is rising rapidly, some locations have overflowed, and there is a risk of dyke failure. To proactively respond to situations that arise, the provincial police have mobilized forces ready to participate in performing tasks when ordered. Particularly, the police of communes and wards are closely monitoring the situation, mobilizing maximum forces, focusing highly, and being ready to respond to possible incidents, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.
