Lao Cai: Working all night to help people move to safety

Faced with unusual weather conditions causing prolonged heavy rain, local authorities and functional forces in the province have urgently mobilized and supported people in dangerous areas to evacuate to safety.

Commune police worked overnight to help more than 300 residents and tourists get to safety.

With the spirit of being ready to rescue, to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, police officers and soldiers did not hesitate to face difficulties, and were present in the villages in time to support people in evacuating in time.

In Sa Pa ward , from the afternoon to the night of August 26, the Commune Police force coordinated with local authorities to place warning signs at 8 high landslide and flooding areas; coordinated with functional forces to clear landslides on national and provincial highways passing through the ward and some small landslides in alleys; advised the Ward People's Committee to issue 6 notices to move people and property for households at risk of landslides to safe places.

The authorities mobilized and helped evacuate 44 households with 217 people; 5 individuals (renting rooms) at Phan Si Pang 3 residential group; 97 workers working at Ban Mong project in Sa Pa 7 residential group to safety. In addition, the Commune Police regularly update thunderstorm warning bulletins on the Ward Police and residential group zalo group, in order to promptly warn people about the flood situation so that they can take timely response measures.

In Van Ban commune , on the night of August 26, the authorities evacuated 6 households in Lang Nom, Khe Chan 1, Na Trang, Trung Doan, Khoi Nghe, and It Noc villages. The commune police also promptly gathered information about the damage to proactively coordinate to overcome the consequences.

In Lao Cai ward , on the night of August 26, immediately after receiving information that house number 133 Ham Nghi street, group 1 Kim Tan, Lao Cai ward had signs of cracks in the wall and broken pillars, Lao Cai ward police quickly arrived and promptly assisted people in moving their belongings to a safe shelter. At the same time, they propagated and mobilized 3 households in the area to move people and their belongings to a safe place.

Tran Yen Commune urgently evacuated 48 households at night

In Tran Yen commune, floods have caused 7 houses to have their roofs blown off, including 2 houses with roofs blown off from 30% to over 70%.

On the night of August 26, Tran Yen commune urgently evacuated 48 households (122 people) and their properties in areas at high risk of flooding and landslides to a safe place.

Currently, the water level of the Red River is slowly decreasing, but with the viewpoint of not being subjective with natural disasters, Tran Yen commune continues to direct functional agencies and villages to grasp the situation to propagate and mobilize people in disaster-prone areas to proactively respond, and at the same time, count the damage caused by floods; continue to synchronously implement response measures, including implementing the "four on-site" motto, ensuring the highest safety of people's lives and limiting damage caused by floods.
