Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister

On August 26, at the 8th Extraordinary Session, the 15th National Assembly carried out the process of approving the Prime Minister's proposal on the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021-2026 term.

Mr. Bui Thanh Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs was introduced to the National Assembly for approval to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

The National Assembly approved the proposal to appoint Deputy Prime Minister by secret ballot. The resolution approving Mr. Bui Thanh Son to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term has just been passed by the National Assembly with 432/432 delegates voting in favor (accounting for 89.81% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).

Mr. Bui Thanh Son was born in 1962; Hometown: Tay Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi City; is a member of the Party Central Committee, 12th and 13th terms; National Assembly Delegate, 14th and 15th terms.

The new Deputy Prime Minister has worked in the diplomatic sector since 1985; he has held the following positions: Deputy Director of the Foreign Policy Department; Assistant to the Minister and Director of the Foreign Policy Department; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and then Minister of Foreign Affairs.
