On June 30, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to announce resolutions and decisions of the Central and local governments on merging provincial and commune-level administrative units; ending the operation of district-level administrative units; establishing Party organizations; appointing Party committees, People's Councils, People's Committees, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of Ho Chi Minh City, communes, wards, and special zones.
Attending the ceremony were comrades: General Secretary To Lam; Nguyen Minh Triet, former Politburo member, former President; Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
Carrying great aspirations and historic opportunities
Speaking to receive the direction of General Secretary To Lam , Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen emphasized that June 30 is a great historical day for the country and Ho Chi Minh City. Officially announcing the resolutions and decisions of the Central Government on the establishment of Ho Chi Minh City; ending the mission of 38 district-level units and establishing 168 new communes, wards and special zones.
From July 1, Ho Chi Minh City will become an administrative-economic entity with a new position on the map of major cities in the region and the world, carrying great aspirations and historical opportunities to optimize its outstanding economic development potential, to soon become a multi-center, multi-industry, multi-functional "super city", with global competitiveness and realizing the process of building a civilized, modern, and humane Ho Chi Minh City.
The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City seriously accepts the instructions of General Secretary To Lam. Ho Chi Minh City will concretize them into actions and soon put them into practice.

That is to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the policies, resolutions, directives and conclusions of the Central Committee and the General Secretary. Ho Chi Minh City is determined to make the entire political system, especially the two-level local government apparatus, operate smoothly and effectively from the first hour and day, to meet the requirements of serving the people better and better. Ho Chi Minh City realizes that the only correct measure in all reforms is the enjoyment and quality of life of the city's people.
Ho Chi Minh City focuses on completing the main goals and tasks of socio-economic development in 2025, contributing to the whole country's achievement of the growth target of 8% or more. At the same time, urgently review the existing institutional system and legal documents, continue to remove obstacles, and handle unavoidable problems in the process of organizing and implementing according to the new model.
100 days of challenge for staff after merger
Ho Chi Minh City focuses on successfully organizing Party Congresses at all levels, towards the first Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the 14th Congress of the Party. "Ho Chi Minh City has been focusing on this congress document with many new points from the mission, vision, goals, strategies, positions, new motivations, new opportunities and challenges, planning orientations and development solutions, associated with the direction of personnel work through 100 challenging days after the merger", the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee affirmed; at the same time, actively preparing to deploy the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.
“Up to this moment, the entire political system of the new city is ready, the people are waiting and tomorrow will start from today,” the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized.

Each cadre, party member, civil servant, and public employee from Ho Chi Minh City to 168 communes, wards, and special zones must continue to strive to study and practice to improve their revolutionary ethics, fighting spirit, and working capacity to be worthy of and meet the requirements of the tasks in each assigned position.
