On the afternoon of February 3, information from Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital said that on the first working day of 2025, the team successfully performed a cesarean section for the pregnant woman NTH (26 years old, residing in Do Luong, Nghe An), safely delivering a 2.8 kg baby boy.

The special thing about this surgery is that the baby is still intact in the amniotic sac, a phenomenon commonly known as "birth in a sac".

After taking the baby out of the mother's womb, the doctor proactively broke the amniotic sac.

According to doctors, this is a rare case, with a rate of only about 1/80,000 births.

During pregnancy, the fetus develops inside the amniotic sac - a thin but strong membrane filled with amniotic fluid that helps keep the fetus warm, protected and aids metabolism.

Normally, when it is time to give birth, the amniotic sac will rupture to allow the baby to be born. In cesarean sections, the amniotic sac often ruptures during the doctor's operation.

However, in some rare cases, such as the birth of mother NTH, the newborn is still born in an intact amniotic sac, surrounded by membranes, umbilical cord and nourishing blood vessels - just like when in the mother's womb.

Currently, the health of the mother NTH and the baby are stable and are being cared for by doctors at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
