The press contributes to promoting local cultural heritage

As a fast, timely and widespread means of information, the press is contributing to spreading the value of relics and scenic spots, as well as raising public awareness to join hands in preserving heritage.

Binh Thuan - a land rich in cultural identity

Binh Thuan is located in the South Central Coast, a locality that converges many unique cultural features of the community of 35 ethnic groups working together to build and develop their homeland. Historical and cultural relics in the province have different dates of establishment. In addition to the prehistoric archaeological relics of the Sa Huynh culture and the Da Kai site dating back 2,500 - 3,000 years, most of the relics in the province are built around 200 years ago. In particular, the Cham tower groups were built much earlier, some of which are over 1,000 years old, and the latest temple tower groups were built in the 16th - 17th centuries. Historical and cultural relics play an important role in meeting the spiritual and cultural needs of local people and the needs of domestic and foreign tourists for sightseeing, worship and enjoyment. You can visit places like Duc Thanh School, Po Sah Inư Tower, Thuy Tu Temple, Suoi Tien Scenic Area, Sand Dunes (Phan Thiet), Co Thach Pagoda, Bay Mau Stone Beach, Binh An Communal House, Ong Nam Hai Tomb (Tuy Phong), Bau Trang Scenic Area, Cham Royal Cultural Heritage Collection, Po Nit Temple (Bac Binh), Ban Tranh Princess Temple, An Thanh Temple, Linh Quang Pagoda (Phu Quy), Dinh Thay Thim (La Gi), Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda and Linh Son Long Doan Pagoda (Ham Thuan Nam)...

Binh Thuan currently has 4 heritages included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In particular, the pottery art of the Cham people in Binh Duc village (Phan Hiep, Bac Binh) has been included in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of urgent protection by UNESCO (United NationsEducational , Scientific and Cultural Organization). In addition, there are 2 treasures recognized as national treasures: the Avalokitesvara Statue of Bac Binh and the Golden Linga. These are all attractive tourism resources, the driving force to attract more and more domestic and international visitors.

Promoting the effectiveness of press communication work

To effectively promote the strengths of cultural heritage, one of the indispensable important means in the current digital age is communication.

As the agency of the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee, the voice of the Party Committee, government and people in the province, Binh Thuan Newspaper clearly demonstrates its role in informing and promoting the cultural characteristics and people of the last land of the South Central region. In fact, many domestic and foreign tourists have shared that through the press, they learned about the land and people of Binh Thuan. It is the images, numbers and suggestions of the authors and the newspaper that urge them to set out, to discover the new and interesting things through each step, each delicious dish, and to direct their souls to a noble spiritual life. In recent years, Binh Thuan Newspaper has also continuously innovated its communication form with columns, special pages, news, articles and clips reflecting richness and appeal in both print and electronic newspapers. At the same time, it innovates its form of expression and image quality to increase its appeal to the public. Thereby, it contributes greatly to promoting, indirectly promoting and developing the socio-economic development of the heritage area.

Mr. Doan Van Thuan - Director of the Provincial Museum assessed: The press has brought the cultural heritage in the province to the public. People, although not having the conditions to visit the cultural heritages, can still admire and understand the value of cultural heritages through the press. In addition, the participation of media agencies, newspapers and radio stations has promptly discovered positive aspects in the cultural field to preserve, promote, replicate and identify deviations to protect the original value of relics and heritages. From good, positive messages, objective assessments, the press contributes with professional agencies to propagate, raise public awareness to join hands in preserving heritage.

The press is both a component of culture, nurtured and developed on fertile cultural soil, and a creative factor with a strong impact on contemporary cultural life. With its pioneering role on the cultural and ideological front, the press will always closely follow the guidelines, policies and strategies of the Party and the State to perform well the propaganda task, contributing to the development of the cultural industry and spreading positive values, improving the spiritual life of the people.

Thanks to promoting the advantages of destinations and effectively taking advantage of favorable factors, tourism promotion activities have been strengthened, in 2024, Binh Thuan tourism is estimated to welcome 9.657 million visitors for sightseeing and relaxation (up 15.64% compared to 2023). Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach nearly 400,000 (up 43.41%), mainly from Korea, China, Russia, Germany, UK, USA, France, Netherlands...
