On December 16, a Brazilian judge ordered a global ban on the song. "Million Years Ago" by singer Adele.

The decision came after a Brazilian musician, Toninho Geraes, accused Adele of plagiarizing the song. "Mulheres" of him to compose his hit.

Judge Victor Torres from the Commercial Court No. 6 in Rio de Janeiro ruled that the Brazilian branches of Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music - Adele's two record labels - must "immediately and globally stop using, reproducing, editing, distributing or trading the song." "Million Years Ago" in any form, medium, streaming or sharing platform."

Additionally, the record labels could face fines of up to $8,000 for each violation of the ban, but the companies have the right to appeal.

According to Attorney Fredimio Trotta, representing Brazilian musician Toninho Geraes, the song "Million Years Ago" Adele's 2015 single "Samba" was a rip-off of the classic samba song. "Mulheres" ("Women") by Geraes, performed by famous singer Martinho da Vila on an album released in 1995.

Geraes is seeking damages for royalties, $160,000 in emotional distress, along with recognition as a co-writer of Adele's song.

Mr. Trotta also said that this week, his legal team will work to notify radio, television and streaming services around the world about Brazil's ruling.

Sony Music Entertainment Brazil said they had no official comment at this time while Universal Music Brazil did not respond to a request for comment.

In addition to the accusations from Brazil, the song "Million Years Ago" Adele's song was also accused by Turkish music fans of having a similar melody to the song "Acilara Tutunmak," "Clinging to Pain" by Kurdish singer Ahmet Kaya, released in 1985.

However, Kaya's wife, who died in France in 2000, once said it was unlikely that a global star like Adele would do such a thing.
