The excitement after many years of returning to the quarter-finals of the European Cup 1 helped Arsenal get off to a smooth start. In the 12th minute, Ben White passed the ball conveniently for Saka to make a tricky low shot to beat Neuer, opening the score of the match.
With the lead, Arsenal continued to pressure the visitors but they were the ones to concede a goal due to a defensive error. Gabriel's inaccurate pass gave Goretzka a chance to break free and steal the ball before "setting the table" for Gnabry to score the equalizer 1-1 in the 18th minute.
In the 32nd minute, Arsenal's defense made another mistake when Saliba fouled Sane in the penalty area and gave Bayern a penalty. From the 11m mark, Harry Kane easily completed the task of putting Bayern ahead. 2-1 for the away team was also the score of the first half.
In the second half, Arsenal pressed forward with changes in personnel by coach Arteta. After many missed opportunities, the Gunners finally got the equalizer 2-2 in the 76th minute. Arsenal's excellent central coordination was completed with a smart pass from Jesus for Trossard to score.
The remaining time saw opportunities from both sides but no more goals were scored. The score of 2-2 means that the match will have many interesting things ahead in the second leg.
