Ao Tram builds a model new rural area

The main roads in Ao Tram hamlet (Dong Dat commune, Phu Luong) have all been expanded and concreted, ensuring green - clean - beautiful.

Ao Tram Hamlet has 163 households, of which over 50% are ethnic minorities: San Chay, Tay, Nung, Dao, Mong... For many years, the people here have always been united and unanimous in completing the common tasks of the locality.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Luan, Head of Ao Tram Hamlet, informed: In 2017, Ao Tram was selected to build a new model rural hamlet (NTMKM). The hamlet Party cell held a meeting to discuss and issue a thematic resolution to implement this task. Based on the 10 criteria of the NTMKM hamlet (on planning, transportation, culture, health , environment, etc.), the hamlet's Mobilization Committee carefully reviewed and evaluated each criterion. Those criteria that have been achieved at a good level will continue to be maintained and improved; those criteria that are still "immature" or have not been achieved will be strived to be implemented...

One of the difficult criteria to implement in building a new rural area in Ao Tram is transportation. Mr. Luan shared: The area of the hamlet is large (more than 400 hectares), while people's awareness is not uniform. Therefore, mobilizing people to contribute money and donate land to build new and expand roads is not easy. Therefore, before building each road, we reported to the Party Committee to organize a Party cell meeting for direction; established a working group to survey and inspect the entire route; made a preliminary accounting, then sought people's opinions on road construction and repair. After people agreed, the hamlet and households proceeded to cut down trees, crops and clear assets on the land. When the road was completed, we publicly and transparently disclosed the revenue and expenditure so that people knew, and at the same time paid for each project, so we received people's consensus and support.

With effective methods, receiving high consensus from the people, from 2018 to now, Ao Tram hamlet has built 3.2km of 3m wide roads; 1.2km of 6m wide roads; 2.6km of solidly graded roads, from 8 to 11.5m wide. Of which, the people donated about 6,000m2 of land to expand the roads. People in 6 residential areas in the hamlet regularly clean up, clear trees, and create a green - clean - beautiful landscape for the roads.

Implementing the income criteria, the Party Cell and the Front Committee of Ao Tram hamlet have encouraged and motivated people to actively change the structure of crops and livestock, apply scientific and technical advances in production, renovate mixed gardens to switch to growing fruit trees with high economic value, and produce forestry seedlings...

Many households in Ao Tram hamlet have converted mixed gardens to growing fruit trees.

Currently, in the hamlet, there are more than 20 households specializing in growing seedlings for afforestation, supplying to people inside and outside the area. In addition, households also grow tea, fruit trees, develop forest economy... The hamlet currently has 1 cooperative producing tea according to VietGAP standards, 1 cooperative growing guava according to VietGAP standards.

Along with developing agricultural and forestry production, people are also active in developing services or working at companies, factories and enterprises in and outside the area. Thanks to that, the average income now reaches 58.6 million VND/person/year (an increase of 11.6 million VND compared to 2018); the hamlet no longer has poor households according to multidimensional standards.

Talking about the experience of building a new rural area, Mr. Luan shared more: To complete the goal of building a new rural area, we always closely follow the plan and instructions of the superiors to implement; promote the role of the people as the main subject with the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people check and people benefit", wherever we do, we always make public and transparent the revenue and expenditure.

During the implementation process, cadres and party members have always been pioneers, exemplary in going first, doing first, and at the same time being close to and listening to the people's thoughts and aspirations. Therefore, they have created consensus and high support from the people.

Besides solidarity and joint efforts to build synchronous rural infrastructure, households in the hamlet always uphold the spirit of solidarity and carry out well the movement "All people unite to build cultural life in residential areas".

In 2024, Ao Tram hamlet had 161/163 households achieving the title of cultural family; in the past 3 years, the hamlet has achieved the title of typical cultural hamlet. In particular, the cultural, artistic and sports movements have always been maintained enthusiastically by the hamlet, taking the lead in the commune...

Mr. Ma Tien Kop, Chairman of Dong Dat Commune People's Committee, assessed: Ao Tram is a typical hamlet, always leading in building new rural areas in the locality. People here always uphold a sense of responsibility and enthusiasm in emulation movements.
