Alcaraz advances to Queen's Club quarter-finals, Sinner knocked out at Halle Open

(Dan Tri) - Carlos Alcaraz spent 3 hours and 23 minutes to defeat Munar and advance to the quarterfinals of Queen's Club 2025. Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner lost to Alexander Bublik and was eliminated at Halle Open 2025.

In the second round of the 2025 ATP 500 Queen's Club tournament held in England on the evening of June 19, Alcaraz faced his Spanish compatriot Munar. Alcaraz broke early in the third game of set 1 after Munar made three consecutive double faults and closed out the set with a 6-4 victory.

In the second set, the match was tense. Alcaraz successfully saved 6 set points to bring the set into a tie-break. However, the world number two player missed 2 match points, before losing 7-9.

In set 3, Alcaraz and Munar each exchanged 2 breaks in the first 8 games. In game 12, Munar made a mistake in the decisive serve, helping Alcaraz win 7-5.

The match ended after 3 hours and 23 minutes with a 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 victory for Alcaraz, who advanced to the Queen's Club quarter-finals against Arthur Rinderknech (8:40 p.m. tonight, June 20). The other quarter-final matches of the tournament are Lehecka vs. Fearnley, Nakashima vs. Draper and Holger Rune vs. Bautista.

In the second round of the ATP 500 Halle Open tournament held in Germany in the early morning of June 20, Jannik Sinner faced Kazakhstani tennis player Alexander Bublik. Sinner played brilliantly and won 6-3 in just 27 minutes in set 1. However, the Italian star made continuous mistakes in set 2 and lost 3-6.

In the third set, Jannik Sinner was out of shape and showing signs of injury, while Alexander Bublik played with great enthusiasm. The world number one lost 4-6 in the deciding set, thereby ending his journey to defend the title he won last year.

Home player Alexander Zverev had to go through 3 hard-fought sets to defeat Lorenzo Sonego 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Halle Open 2025 to meet Cobolli at 6pm this afternoon (June 20). Other quarter-final matches include Daniil Medvedev vs Michelsen, Bublik vs Machac and Etcheverry vs Khachanov.
