The "return" of the old land and the new name after merging two villages Pire 1, Pire 2 into A Bung commune, Dakrong district, has completely resolved the long-standing administrative boundary dispute between Thua Thien - Hue province and Quang Tri province, maintaining political security and social order and safety in the area, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people.

Village elder Ho Van Lien, Pire 2 village, A Bung commune, Dakrong district, confided that in the past, people in villages 6 and 7 of Hong Thuy commune, A Luoi district “did not like” the separation and merger with A Bung commune, Dakrong district, because the name A Luoi had existed in their minds for a long time. However, the inadequacies in administrative boundaries left by history had to be adjusted to open a new historical development period. Since “returning” to the administrative boundaries of A Bung commune, Dakrong district, the ambiguous land disputes between the two localities no longer existed, and people were assured to stabilize their lives and production.

In particular, after the day of administrative boundary demarcation of the two communes of A Bung - Hong Thuy, the people received attention and support from the local authorities of the two provinces, gaining more than losing a name. The people in A Bung and Hong Thuy are all of the same Pa Ko ethnic group, with similar culture, so they can integrate easily.

Since 2020, the government of A Bung commune, Dakrong district has focused on investing in infrastructure, building community cultural houses, supporting the removal of temporary houses, providing technical support and plant varieties for the two villages of Pire 1 and Pire 2 after the merger. Since then, people's lives have improved significantly. Poor households, near-poor households, policy families, and people with revolutionary contributions have all enjoyed preferential policies from the Party and the State.

According to Secretary of the Party Cell of Pire 2 Village, A Bung Commune, Ho Van Tich, after 5 years of merging into A Bung Commune, Dakrong District, the lives of the people of Pire 2 Village have changed positively. On the land previously disputed between Hong Thuy Commune and A Bung Commune, now when merged into the administrative boundary of A Bung Commune, people no longer encroach, encroach, or dispute land like before. Once settled, they will have a career. Currently, Pire 2 Village has an average of about 2 hectares of stable cultivated land per family, without any disputes, people are assured to invest in economic development. Of which, there are more than a dozen households cultivating with an area of over 10 hectares each, people's lives are quite well-off.

“After merging with A Bung commune, my family has 17 hectares of production land that is no longer disputed like before. I have planted 12 hectares of cajuput and 5 hectares of cassava, and raised more than 10 buffaloes and cows. In 2024, the income from 5 hectares of cassava alone brought my family nearly 200 million VND. Many households in Pire 2 village after merging with A Bung commune no longer have land disputes, so they can confidently develop production and stabilize their lives like my family,” said Ho Van Tich, Secretary of the Party Cell of Pire 2 village, A Bung commune.

Chairman of A Bung Commune People's Committee Ho Van Hien said: "After merging Pire 1 and Pire 2 villages into A Bung commune according to Resolution No. 31/NQ-CP of the Government, from 2020 to 2023, Dakrong district and A Bung commune have focused on mobilizing resources from national target programs of more than 22 billion VND to prioritize investment in building connecting infrastructure, serving people's lives and production for people in the two new villages, including: a bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh road to Pire 1 and Pire 2 villages; village cultural house; lighting for the main road and concrete roads of the village and hamlet axes...

The locality also focuses on supporting seedlings, techniques, and integrating production development programs for the people. From having more than 80% poor households, the two newly merged villages Pire 1 and Pire 2 now have a higher standard of living and income than the average of the whole A Bung commune.

In particular, thanks to the clear demarcation of administrative boundaries, there are no longer any ambiguities in land disputes, and people are psychologically stable and productive. The situation where some people took advantage of the "darkness and light" of disputed administrative boundary areas to illegally cut down forests and mine gold is no longer the case. Security and order in the area are guaranteed. People are happy and excited about the achievements of their new life.

Many years ago, due to prolonged administrative boundary disputes, the social order and security situation in A Bung commune, Dakrong district and Hong Thuy commune, A Luoi district had many complicated developments, with the potential risk of becoming a hot spot.

With many correct and timely policies of the A Bung commune government and Dakrong district prioritizing the mobilization of investment resources for the two villages of Pire 1 and Pire 2 after the merger, along with solidarity, community responsibility, the people here always trust in the leadership of the Party and the laws of the State.

Although the old name is still deeply ingrained in the subconscious, the important thing is that after the merger with A Bung commune, Dakrong district, Quang Tri province, the villagers have a stable, prosperous and happy life. The new day begins with people feeling less anxious, thinking about the future of solidarity to build a new, more beautiful homeland.
