94 female golfers from 24 countries compete in Asian Amateur tournament

From March 6-9, at the par71 Hoiana Shores Golf Club (Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam), the Women's Asia- Pacific Amateur Golf Championship (WAAP Championship) took place, gathering 94 female golfers from 24 countries.

This is the first time the WAAP Championship is held in Vietnam, organized by Royal & Ancient (R&A).

The 2025 WAAP Championship has 4 stroke play rounds, in which the cut-off is based on the principle of granting the right to continue to the top 50 (including T50 positions) of the leaderboard after 2 rounds.

As the host, Vietnam has 6 representatives participating in the competition including Le Chuc An, Nguyen Viet Gia Han, Anna Le, Arena Tran, Nguyen Vu Hoang Anh, Nguyen Bao Chau. At the WAAP Championship 2025, Bao Chau (12 years old) is the youngest athlete.

These young female golfers came to golf at an early age (6-7 years old) and have achieved remarkable results, such as Chuc An (17 years old) who is a Vietnamese player at SEA Games 22, 23, and ASIAN Games 2022.

Gia Han (14 years old) won many domestic tournaments, in 2022 at the age of 11 she became the youngest athlete in the history of the Vietnam National Championship. Anna Le (15 years old) is a Vietnamese golfer, achieving many high achievements at home and abroad.

The WAAP Championship champion will receive a spot to compete in three prestigious professional women's golf majors including the AIG Women's Open, Amundi Evian Championship and Chevron Championship in 2025. In addition, there will be the right to participate in prestigious tournaments such as Hana Financial Group Championship, ISPS Handa Australian Open, Women's Amateur Championship, Augusta National Women's Amateur.

At the 2024 tournament, Chun-Wei Wu (Taiwan) won the WAAP Championship with a final score of 270 strokes (-18 points) at the Waterside course of Siam Country Club (Thailand).

WAAP Championship was launched in 2018, initiated and developed by R&A and the Asia- Pacific Golf Confederation to nurture talent and provide opportunities for high-achieving female amateur golfers in the region to demonstrate their class on the international stage. At the same time, owning the privilege of being able to change your golf career through competing in 3 prestigious women's major tournaments (AIG Women's Open, Amundi Evian Championship and Chevron Championship).
