Many Indonesian newspapers on September 2 reflected quite vividly on the military parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
According to a VNA reporter in Jakarta, Internasional.kontan.co.id wrote: "Vietnam celebrated its 80th anniversary of Independence Day from colonial rule with the largest military parade in decades, giving cash to 100 million people, an unprecedented gift package that could be worth up to 380 million USD. On this occasion, nearly 14,000 prisoners were also pardoned and released."
According to the article, tens of thousands of people poured into the streets of the capital Hanoi , many wearing red shirts and carrying Vietnamese flags, demonstrating strong national spirit and great patriotism. The ceremony was also held at sea, in Cam Ranh Bay, with the participation of a fleet of Vietnamese submarines and destroyers.
TRT.Global ran an article titled "Vietnam Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Many Records," stating that this was the largest military parade in decades. The lavishly staged celebration was "unprecedented in scale," surpassing the 30,000-strong crowd that attended the 1985 Liberation Day celebrations.
The Jakarta Koran headlined “Vietnam celebrates 80th anniversary of independence with massive parade” with tanks, drones and missiles lining the streets, while helicopters and planes flew overhead. Thousands of people camped out overnight on the streets of Hanoi to watch the parade.
Kompas and Detik newspapers also published a series of photos of the parade with many impressive and beautiful images of the parade blocks and the latest military equipment. The newspaper said the parade displayed Vietnam's most modern military equipment, including Mi-171 helicopters, Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets and domestically produced drones. Thousands of Vietnamese soldiers, along with soldiers from China, Russia and several other countries, participated in the parade.
Detik newspaper quoted the speech of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam at the opening ceremony affirming: "We are determined and persistent in protecting the independence, freedom, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and every inch of sacred land of the Fatherland."
Beritasriwijaya has an article "Vietnam celebrates 80th National Day, gives cash to people", commenting that the program reflects the Vietnamese Government's commitment to improving people's quality of life in the context of the global economy facing many challenges.
Cash handouts are expected to have a positive impact on the Vietnamese economy, contributing to increasing people's purchasing power, strongly increasing domestic consumption, and contributing to improving economic growth.
The article also commented that this parade not only showcased Vietnam’s military strength but also reflected the pride and patriotism of the people. With tens of thousands of soldiers in full uniform and equipped with modern combat weapons, the parade created a spectacular scene.
In addition, the parade also introduces traditional Vietnamese art, reflecting local culture. The combination of military power and cultural heritage has created a unique attraction for tourists.
KontanTV also covered the parade at Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945. This historic moment marked the end of French colonial rule and opened the long journey towards building a sovereign nation./.
