5 Vietnamese students compete in the 2025 International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad

GD&TĐ - On the afternoon of August 8, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a meeting to encourage the Vietnamese team participating in the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in 2025.

The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) is a prestigious annual science Olympiad for high school students. The 2025 IOAA will be held from August 11 to 21 in Mumbai, India, marking the 18th year the competition has been held and the 8th time Vietnam has sent students to participate.

Participating in this year's IOAA competition, Hanoi continues to be assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to select students to compete. Through the selection process, the team consists of 5 members: Vu Nguyen Nguyen, Nguyen Truong Yen, Dang Nam Phong, Nguyen Minh Hieu (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted), Hoang Pham Minh Khanh (Newton Secondary and High School).

To prepare students for the exam, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and schools organized review and practice sessions for students with the support of experts from the Institute of Space Science, Hanoi National University of Education, Institute of Physics, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

In addition, team members are also supported by students who won medals at previous international astronomy and astrophysics Olympiads.

Representing the students, Vu Nguyen Nguyen, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, expressed his honor and pride at having the opportunity to participate in the exam, and at the same time expressed his determination to stay calm, confident, make every effort, and maximize his abilities to achieve the best results.

Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Dinh Tran Phuong, teacher of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, thanked the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and schools for their attention, encouragement and support; and affirmed his sense of responsibility and high determination to carry out his duties.

Recalling the proud achievements of the capital's students, congratulating the students and schools whose members participated in the competition this year, Mr. Tran The Cuong encouraged the members of the teams to be determined and believed that the team would achieve high results in the competition.
