Mr. Nguyen Van Tai showed reporters the sinkhole located close to the foundation of his family and Ms. Pham Thi Sen's family.
The hole then gradually sank about 3m deep and spread to the neighboring house about 6m. The sinkhole caused cracks in the house, the foundation collapsed, and was dangerous for the households. Mr. Tai immediately reported to the Gia Ke village chief, the Hoa Phu commune government, and the Hoa Phu commune police to come down to survey, assess, and grasp the situation. The commune and village government mobilized forces and directed the relocation of Mr. Nguyen Van Tai and Ms. Pham Thi Sen's belongings to a new, safe temporary residence.
The furniture in Mr. Nguyen Van Tai's house has been moved elsewhere.
Mr. Tai and his wife showed reporters Ms. Pham Thi Sen's house, which had also been relocated and partially dismantled to ensure safety.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vien, Vice Chairman of Hoa Phu Commune People's Committee, said that the commune has reported to the District People's Committee and professional agencies. Currently, the commune is still sending staff to monitor and grasp the situation, waiting for instructions and inspections from professional agencies to have a direction to handle and stabilize people's lives.
