As of 7:00 a.m. on June 9, 2025, the water level of Song Luy Lake was at +128.32 m and was continuing to rise, approaching the normal water level of +129.5 m. The main water intake of Song Luy Lake is currently open with a flow rate of about 21.6 m³/s to provide irrigation water for summer-autumn crop production in Bac Binh and Ham Thuan Bac districts.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the coming days, the province will have showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain. Therefore, in order to increase the flood prevention capacity of the reservoir, ensure the safety of the project, and reduce flooding in the downstream area when heavy rain occurs, Binh Thuan Irrigation Construction and Investment Company Limited will operate the buffer water discharge through the spillway of Song Luy reservoir.
The expected regulation time starts at 3:00 p.m. on June 10, 2025, regulating water through the spillway with a flow rate of 20 m³/s. Then, depending on the amount of water coming to the lake, the company will increase the regulation flow rate from 30 ÷ 150 m³/s. The company will make the most of the discharged water to supply irrigation water, the remaining water (if any) will flow back to the Luy River. Therefore, to avoid damage to people in the affected areas, it is recommended that the People's Committees of Bac Binh District and Tuy Phong District notify people along the Luy River and the river mouth area to proactively have a safety prevention plan .
