Leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education and leaders of Thai Nguyen province awarded scholarships to students in the program "Lighting up faith, helping children go to school in 2024". |
Ha Yen Vy, a 9D student at Hoa Thuong Secondary School in Dong Hy Commune, shared in tears: “I was born into a family with special difficulties. My mother has a history of blood disease, and my father left when I was born. My grandmother took care of me and built a temporary house for me next to her house.”
A few years ago, disaster struck when her mother was diagnosed with leukemia, suffering from pain and losing her ability to work, leaving the family financially exhausted. In early 2025, her mother passed away, leaving Vy and her elderly grandmother as the only support.
Despite difficult circumstances, many students still strive to excel. Nong Tuan Khang, a 6th grader at Cao Son Primary and Secondary School in Vinh Thong Commune, was born into a large family. His parents are self-employed, have poor health, unstable incomes, and are among the poor households in the commune.
However, Tuan Khang is always aware of his responsibilities, studying hard and helping his parents with housework. He has been an excellent student for 5 consecutive years, actively participates in team activities, is the school's deputy team leader and has won many awards in competitions at all levels.
Similarly, with determination and a strong desire to study, Ta Duy Thin, an 8th grade student at Cao Ky Secondary School, Tan Ky Commune, also overcame difficult circumstances. He grew up in a family lacking the love of his father, his mother was mentally ill, had poor health, and was unable to work. The family was among the poor households in the commune, and their lives depended mainly on the support of neighbors and local authorities. However, Duy Thin persisted in studying and in the 2024-2025 school year, he achieved the title of excellent student, becoming the pride of his family and school.
Just looking at three of the students with very difficult circumstances who received scholarships in the 13th "Lighting up faith, helping children go to school" program in 2025, is enough to see that their determination to rise up is truly admirable.
This year, the 13th program "Lighting up faith, helping children go to school" continues to be implemented at all levels of the provincial education promotion association.
Although in the context of the whole country focusing on reorganizing provincial-level units, ending district-level activities and implementing two-level local government, the program still received the attention of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education with 100 million VND from the Vietnam Fund for Promoting Education; the companionship of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee with socio- political organizations, professional organizations, the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial Red Cross, the Provincial Newspaper and Radio, Television, and benefactors and local businesses, with a total amount of more than 300 million VND.
The program “Light up the faith, help children go to school”, organized for many years, has become a brand in the activities of the education promotion association at all levels. The program has a profound humanitarian meaning, supporting poor students, helping them to be more confident, secure and excited when the new school year begins.
Many localities in the province have organized scholarships and awards for students right after the end of the school year. This year, despite the economic and production and business conditions slowing down, the work of encouraging learning and talent still received positive support from social forces, especially businesses and philanthropists.
In today's program, 184 scholarships, each worth 1 million VND, will be awarded to outstanding students with difficult circumstances in 92 communes and wards in the province. In addition, 46 9th grade students who won first, second and third prizes in English at the provincial level will receive scholarships from the teachers and staff of Thai Hung Trading Joint Stock Company. This is the third consecutive year that the company has paid special attention to students who won English prizes at the secondary school level in the province.
