According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, from June 9 to 12, the third round of negotiations on the bilateral reciprocal trade agreement between Vietnam and the United States was held in the United States.

During the four days of negotiations, the Vietnamese and US delegations made much progress, narrowing the gap in all areas of negotiation.

The two sides had a frank and constructive discussion on issues of concern to each country as stated in the Response Document that Vietnam sent to the United States. At the same time, they took the time to listen to analyses and explanations towards appropriate solutions that both sides could accept.

In addition, the two sides also agreed to hold an online meeting in the coming days to continue discussing outstanding issues and prepare for online negotiations between US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.

On the 4th working day (the last session of the technical-level negotiation session), Minister Nguyen Hong Dien had a negotiation session at the same time with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Ambassador Jamieson Greer, Chief of the US Trade Representative.

Based on the results of the four-day negotiation, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien proposed a number of ideas to promote the process and bring about the negotiation results.

The two US Ministers appreciated Vietnam's goodwill and efforts and basically agreed with the ideas put forward by Minister Nguyen Hong Dien, considering them an important basis for the two sides to continue discussing necessary work to promote and reach an agreement between the two countries.

After the plenary session with the two US Ministers, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien had a direct exchange with Minister of Commerce Howard Lutnick to clarify the contents discussed at the plenary session.

Minister Lutnick affirmed that the United States highly values its relationship with Vietnam and wishes for Vietnam to develop strongly. He acknowledged Vietnam's suggestions and concerns and said he would coordinate with the Office of the United States Trade Representative to find an appropriate solution.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed Vietnam's determination to build and promote economic and trade relations with the United States in a balanced and sustainable manner for the benefit of the people and businesses of the two countries.

The Ministers agreed to assign technical levels of both sides to continue to increase exchanges to soon reach an agreement in accordance with the expectations and conditions of each side.
