Vietravel and the campaign “Keep the cranes – keep millions of green colors”: Not only a journey but also an action for the future

Launched in early May 2025, Vietravel's CSR campaign "Keep the cranes - keep millions of green" has quickly become a memorable milestone in the journey of responsible tourism in Vietnam. The campaign was deployed by Vietravel for 02 months on many fronts from communication, inspiration, to a series of specific actions at Tram Chim National Park, receiving enthusiastic support from many tourists.

One of the notable highlights of Vietravel ’s CSR campaign this time is the positive response from tourists to eco-tours combined with environmental exploration at Tram Chim National Park – known as the “green lung” of the Dong Thap Muoi region. Through the campaign, Vietravel has accompanied Tram Chim’s conservation efforts by designing and implementing responsible tourism itineraries, giving tourists the opportunity to experience the habitat of red-crowned cranes in an authentic way.

In Vietravel's tour itinerary, visitors not only have the opportunity to explore the landscape in the wetland, but also be introduced to the unique ecosystem, the role of reed grass in the biological chain, and the importance of preserving clean water sources - vital factors for the survival of the rare crane species. Some activities include participating in exchanges with artisans, learning how to make traditional Melaleuca paintings and receiving Melaleuca paintings as gifts. In addition, visitors will take a motorboat to explore the wetland ecosystem conservation area typical of the Dong Thap Muoi region; listen to the tour guide share information about the history of formation, birds, fish, and animals of this land. These vivid, practical experiences have aroused the awareness and interest of visitors, especially children participating with their families. From these trips, the model of "tourism associated with environmentaleducation " developed by Vietravel has received positive reviews from customers, considered a new, humane and sustainable approach for the tourism industry in Vietnam.

Practical action from Vietravel

After nearly two months of implementation, Vietravel’s “Keep the cranes – keep millions of green” campaign has not stopped at the appeal message, but has been materialized through practical actions at Tram Chim National Park. All are aimed at the common goal: restoring the habitat for the red-crowned crane – an iconic bird species that is facing the risk of disappearing from Vietnam.

Accordingly, Vietravel has coordinated with the National Park to install a specialized water filter with a capacity of up to 250 m³/hour. This filter system meets biological standards, is capable of treating residual chlorine and removing toxic impurities, contributing significantly to the restoration of natural water quality - an important factor for red-crowned cranes to return, live stably and develop into flocks in the future.

In addition to improving water resources, Vietravel also promotes activities to restore native ecosystems, focusing on regenerating natural food sources - a key factor in determining the return of cranes. In particular, the campaign has restored mangroves on an area of about 10 hectares, combined with the control of alien species on a scale of 8 hectares, to ensure sustainable ecological balance.

At the same time, Vietravel, together with local officials and environmental engineers, implemented two main support directions. First, Vietravel completed the planting of additional native aquatic plants such as reed grass and sedge grass, which are the main food and also the ideal habitat for red-crowned cranes. With the characteristic of only growing in clean freshwater areas, the presence of reed grass also acts as a biological indicator, reflecting that the water environment has been significantly improved. The restoration of this native vegetation not only provides cranes with a natural food source, but also contributes to the reconstruction of wetlands - considered the "biological lungs" of the entire Dong Thap Muoi.

Next, Vietravel implemented a model of raising native field crickets, with 5 breeding tanks, each measuring 1.2m long and 0.6m wide. This is a natural, nutritious food source, especially useful during the breeding season of red-crowned cranes. This solution effectively utilizes available biological resources, contributing to balancing the food chain in the ecosystem and reducing dependence on wild food sources, which are increasingly scarce.

All of the above activities are carried out in consultation with wildlife conservation experts, ensuring scientific validity and compliance with international Ramsar site standards such as Tram Chim. At the same time, Vietravel also conducts periodic recording and evaluation of results to serve as a basis for expanding this model to other ecological reserves in the future.

Emotional Journey: From Responsible Tourism to Changing Community Awareness

The campaign is not only an environmental protection activity, but also an emotional journey. Many tourists have left profound shares after participating in tours combining experiences at Tram Chim organized by Vietravel.

Ms. Le Thuy (HCMC), a customer participating in the 2-day-1-night tour at Tram Chim National Park, shared that she had an experience beyond her expectations. "I never thought that a painting made from dry grass and withered leaves could move me so much. Every detail in the painting is a reminder that if we don't act today, there might be nothing left to preserve tomorrow." - Ms. Thuy shared.

Mr. Minh (HCMC) brought his 9-year-old grandson along and added: “What I appreciate most is that this tour has very good educational content, close but not boring. When my son got home, he kept asking about the red-crowned crane. He also said he wanted to draw a picture to give to Tram Chim.”

From authentic experiences, the campaign not only sows awareness in the hearts of adults, but also strongly inspires the younger generation. With a gentle yet profound approach, Vietravel has succeeded in turning an environmental message into a life experience, thereby connecting the community with nature in a natural and sustainable way. Not just a short-term campaign, “Keep the cranes – keep millions of greens” is becoming the foundation for Vietravel’s long-term strategy: developing sustainable tourism and integrating social responsibility in every journey.

The campaign “Keep the cranes – keep millions of green” has left its mark with the perseverance and dedication of the business, the companionship of the community and the small but meaningful steps of each tourist. In the context of nature calling for help every day, the fact that a travel company like Vietravel chooses to act – instead of just standing by – is a strong message: tourism today is no longer a leisure activity, but a responsibility. And the journey to keep the cranes – is the journey to keep the hope for a more sustainable future.
