Vietnam to export farmed crocodiles to China

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development , Vietnam and China are urgently completing the legal review to sign 3 Protocols: Export of wild-caught seafood, export of farmed crocodiles and export of farmed monkeys from Vietnam to China. The two sides will coordinate to handle difficulties in the import and export of sturgeon and lobsters according to a special mechanism and will also include the above contents in the protocol.

Lychee prices in China are expected to be high this year.

Exporting to China faces new opportunities

On January 22, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the working delegation led by Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam had just concluded a working trip to China with many positive results in promoting market opening for agricultural, forestry and fishery products.

It is known that at the meeting with the leaders of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the two sides agreed on many bilateral cooperation contents in many fields. Accordingly, the two sides will organize the 2nd meeting of the Vietnam - China Joint Agricultural Cooperation Committee in China in 2024 and discuss cooperation contents on science and technology in the fields of green agriculture, emission reduction agriculture and organic agriculture. Vietnam and China are promoting the export of farmed crocodiles.

During the working session with the General Department of Customs of China, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam discussed the opening of the agricultural product market. Accordingly, the two sides agreed on the content, the Chinese side will urgently complete the legal review to sign as soon as possible 3 Protocols including: Protocol on the export of naturally exploited aquatic products; Protocol on the export of farmed crocodiles; Protocol on the export of farmed monkeys from Vietnam to China.

In addition, the two sides also agreed to coordinate in handling difficulties in the import and export of sturgeon and lobster according to a special mechanism and will include it in the Protocol between the two countries.

While waiting for the signing of the Protocol, China will consider creating a special mechanism for establishments to register for export.

China has agreed to consider lifting the ban on poultry imports from Vietnam. Authorities on both sides will coordinate to complete procedures to lift the ban.

Along with that, salted jellyfish is included in the Protocol on exporting naturally exploited aquatic products to Vietnam and is ready to process additional technical documents from Vietnam to open more avocado imports from Vietnam.

To enhance cooperation between quarantine units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and China Customs at the border, the two sides agreed to hold a meeting between these forces after the Lunar New Year. Thereby, creating conditions for units to increase exchanges, learn from experiences and resolve problems arising in the process of implementing tasks at border gates.

In 2024, the import and export turnover of agricultural products of the two countries will have good growth, so the issue of coordination and exchange of experiences between the forces of the two sides is very necessary. This is the starting point for strengthening cooperation between quarantine units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and units of the General Administration of Customs of China.
