Vietnam - Laos closely coordinate in collecting martyrs' remains

On July 7, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam and his delegation visited Hua Phan province to offer incense to commemorate Vietnamese and Lao martyrs; visited and encouraged officers and soldiers of the Martyrs' Remains Search and Collection Team; and surveyed the land planned to build a new headquarters for the unit.

According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, in a solemn atmosphere, the delegation offered incense, held a moment of silence to commemorate and pay tribute to the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation, independence and freedom for the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

At the meeting, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Ba Thanh - representative of the Martyrs' Remains Search and Collection Team - said that the work of collecting martyrs' remains in the area has achieved many positive results in recent times, thanks to effective coordination with the authorities and people of Hua Phan province. In addition to professional tasks, the Team also carries out mass mobilization work, supports free medical examination and treatment, and donates tens of thousands of sets of clothes to Lao people.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam highly appreciated the spirit of overcoming difficulties of the officers and soldiers and affirmed that the search and collection of martyrs' remains is a major policy of the Party and State, demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the Vietnamese people. This is not only a responsibility but also an order from the heart, a deeply humane act.

The Ambassador expressed his belief that with close direction from all levels and a high sense of responsibility from the task force, the search and collection of martyrs' remains will continue to achieve good results, contributing to strengthening the special Vietnam-Laos relationship.

On this occasion, the Working Group surveyed a 1.5-hectare plot of land in Vieng Xay district, which had just been granted by the Hua Phan provincial government to build a new headquarters for the Search and Collection Team.
