Vietnam is becoming a top tourist destination for Australians. Statistics recently released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that the number of Australians traveling to Vietnam in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 54% compared to 2019.

Australian travel company InsideAsia Tour also said that the number of Australians booking trips to Vietnam in the first half of this year increased by 46% compared to the same period last year.

Data from online booking platform Kloot also shows that the number of Australian tourists booking rooms in Vietnam in the second quarter of 2025 increased by 250% compared to the same period last year.

In a newly published report by the Australian Tourism Association, it is emphasized that Vietnam is becoming a bright spot, the fastest growing market for Australian tourists with a growth rate of 28%, faster than the Japanese market (17%) and China (12%).

These figures show that Vietnam is becoming the choice of many Australian tourists, characterized by outstanding value for money. In fact, while Australian tourists have to spend more than 5000 AUD for a 10-day trip to Bali, they only need to spend between 2000 AUD and 3000 AUD for a 14-day trip to Vietnam. Australian tourists are impressed by the modest spending they spend in Vietnam on food and travel services, but have quality and rich experiences.

Not only the cost advantage, the stability of the Australian dollar against the Vietnamese dong is also the reason why Vietnam becomes a cost-saving destination.

Miranda, a young Australian tourist who recently visited Vietnam with her boyfriend, said: “Vietnam is so good. The food is amazing. We usually only spend a few dollars for each meal. We spent a few dollars and could buy a sandwich and a beer. It was amazing.”

Miranda said that Vietnam is an ideal tourist destination with direct flights from Australia, delicious and cheap food, luxurious but affordable resorts and cruises. Not only that, the people are also very friendly and hospitable. Vietnam is also not as humid as Bali or Thailand, so it is more pleasant to explore all day.
