Vietnam assumes the role of Chair of the Asia-Pacific Group at the UN

According to a VNA reporter at the United Nations, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang - Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations received the handover of the Chairmanship of the Asia- Pacific Group at the United Nations in April.

The handover ceremony took place on March 28, during a regular meeting of the Asia- Pacific group at the United Nations.

As the chair of the regional group with the most diverse membership at the United Nations - with 53 countries, Vietnam will be primarily responsible for information and coordination of the Asia-Pacific Group's candidacy for positions at UN agencies, and will also preside over the settlement and coordination of issues arising or disagreements among countries in the group.

The Chairman will also represent and express the group's common position at a number of United Nations meetings.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that Vietnam will closely cooperate with members and strive to successfully fulfill its role as Chair of the Asia-Pacific Group at the United Nations in April.
